Had an amazing dinner here, food was unique, tasty and plated well. Smoked trout appetizer was creamy and packed with flavor and served with delicious home made bread. Mains were duck breast and a venison and boar Salisbury steak followed by a coconut cream cake dessert. Small but well curated wine list and a nice selection of craft beers. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the Lake Placid area. Quality on par with most of the high end resort restaurants with lower prices and a down home feeling.

Salt of the Earth is a converted house. The property gives the bistro a very welcoming and informal feel. Decorations include retro 1950s appliances which make the whole place distinctive.
The food is outstanding. Reading the menu might give you the impression that it's jazzed up Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food, but it's really an eclectic international menu that's quite interesting: rabbit meatballs came in a very different sauce that was nominally a "tikka masala" sauce but was very distinctive. mama Mel's butter cake was insanely good. Overall the dishes are inventive and well worth the price.
Service was attentive, friendly, and definitely enhanced the whole experience.
Not to be missed if you're' in Lake Placid.

We went to Salt of the Earth on a Saturday evening without a reservation but they cheerfully squeezed us in, and treated us as though we were family. The knowledge about the fresh food and tasty drinks made me feel so at ease with my celiac . We will be back next trip to LP.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here at Salt of the Earth. They started us off with a generously poured special cocktail of prosecco, grapefruit juice and sage. The menu options (even the vegetarian offerings) all looked interesting and flavorful. Our entrées of duck and cod were outstanding. The dessert was also excellent and we discussed how we could not have found a better meal anywhere. The setting is a bit of a modern spin on a victorian farmhouse and was quite cozy. Our waitress was welcoming and kind; offering an opinion when asked and going the extra mile for our experience.

We had a wonderful dinner of a shared Grace salad, cod and swordfish. All dishes were exceptional. The setting is a Victorian clapboard house with eclectic decor - really fun. The menu has something for everyone and listening to the other tables, everyone was very happy with their choices. Highly recommend it.
