A lot of people have commented on the fact that this place has a few maintenance issues, and that's true ... it does, but nothing life threatening ... just a bit out if date and succumbing to the elements in places.

If you want fancy TVs and superfast Wi-Fi, you'll probably find a lot else wrong with Rodrigues too ... it's not that kind of place.

Everything else is spot-on though. The location is perfect ... close to town and a couple of great little beaches.

The food is great (though a bit predictable) ... but if you get bored, there are great local restaurants within 5 mins walk, and town is 15-20 minutes further.

The staff are kind and helpful, but leave you alone in peace. Within a couple of days the maid that serviced our room noticed we went out for an early walk, and our room was always done by the time we got back.

So ... definitely not 7* luxury, but still a palace.

Well be back.

It is a shame to see the state of deterioration compared to a couple of years ago. There is no maintenance performed on the premises and the rooms. The shower door was rusty, the toilet seat not fixed properly, the furniture is badly in need of a coat of paint, the TV must be about 10 years old and had only 3 channels, no news channel, the concrete pillars are broken and cracked, the pool is cloudy, the jacuzzi is empty there was a mouse in it running around and it could not get out. Mice in the dining room too. The b/fast buffet is basic with not much choice and not heaps either, same for the dinner. If you want to buy a cup of tea it is expensive Rs 70.00 ie about 1.50 Euros when down the road in a restaurant it is Rs 50.00. We ended eating at a little restaurant The Marlin Bleu just down the road from the hotel. Good food and cocktails at a reasonable price.

The staff is very nice always smiling, polite and helpful. It is such a pity to see this hotel going to rack and ruin and in fact two sections of the hotel have been closed. It is such a cosy place and well situated just outside Port Mathurin and facing the sea. The swimming facilities in front of the hotel are not very good but if the pool was properly maintained this could compensate.

This year i visited Rodrigues Island with a friend for the 9th time and i will again next year. This time i stayed at les Cocotiers resort situated on the beach at Anse Aux Anglais .Nice hotel on half board and we had yummy local dishes. On Saturday there's the weekly fair at Port Mathurin where you can buy all the specialities of the island .As soon as you land at plaine Corail airport it seems time comes to a stop ,you immediately have this feeling of complete relaxation. 5 days are enough to visit the whole island and best way is to rent a scooter or go round the coast walking ,the beaches are still natural and you can imagine what paradise must be.I recommend 'la case lapaille 'a small resto on the beach at St François where you can eat grilled fresh lobster and fish or local sausages.

We were actually booked in another hotel but that got cancelled and we were booked at this hotel at last minute. We were a bit sceptical at first on how would this hotel be but once we reached here we enjoyed right from minute one.

The hotel has a swimming pool and most of the room will give you a view of a beach which is very nice with clear blue waters. The other room which do not have beach view will give you swimming pool view. The service of the hotel was very good and all staff were very helpful. The staff speak French so you need to speak English really slow and explain them and they will easily help you with your queries.

The food in the hotel was good. Breakfast had lots of variety and they served Indian as well as English breakfast. The dinner too did not disappoint and exceeded expectations. They also kept a basket full of fruits which were very fresh and good. They organised a couple dinner once on the beach with candlelight which was memorable.

Best part was the area was very clean very quite and peaceful. Was a nice place to relax. The cost for a 5 day stay was reasonable compared to other hotels. Beach area too had shacks to relax and also had some motor boats which you could hire. Room service was done everyday. There is also a store just outside the hotel where you could buy snacks, chocolates, calling cards, bottled drinking water (water in hotel is costly so buy from this store), and also other gift items.

I would recommend the hotel as it is economical and I enjoyed my stay.
