The Namib Desert Lodge is well located to visit the dunes and all the nice area. The rooms are in bungallows for two or four rooms and are reasonable equiped. The unique negative point it is not prepared for the cold nights in winter. All the other things including the restaurant were fine.

We stayed at this lodge for 2 nights for the purpose of visiting Sossusvlei. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean with lovely patios to bird watch and dune watch. There are 2 pools to entertain the children and the buffet is above average. The staff are so willing to please - from freeaing water bottles overnight to heating milk for a nice latte. There is free tea and coffee all day. It is 60 km north of Sossusvlei park entrance on a good ground road. SADC residents should enquire about a Gondwana card before going - it entitles you to 40 percent discount on already good value for money.

We stayed in the lodge for 2 nights and I must say that I really enjoyed it. It is close to the Sossusvlei gate (about 1 hour - do not forget it will take you another 45 minutes to reach the Sossusvlei from the gate). The lodge has a couple of bungalows which are simple but clean. Only in the morning it is quite noisy as the porter is pushing the trolley on the stone floor (the should invest in some rubber trolley)
Service in the restaurant is also rather good as the staff has everything under control and food is flowing fast from the kitchen to the tables. One plus is also the two pools in the lodge (one sweet water the other one salt water). Due to the fact that it was permanently raining we could not use the pools - however, they looked nice.
One big plus would be an internet station in the lodge to be able to connect to the outer world.
Over all - we liked it and would come back.

it is an amazing place! nice and spacious rooms (chalets) in a stunning scenery. directly at the petrified dunes. service was very very friendly and helpful. not far from the entrance to Sossusvlei. It is the most affordable accomodation close to Sossusvlei.
nice to lie at the pool with a drink and the view of the dunes

We stayed at the Namib desert lodge for a couple of days during a recent road trip into Namibia. I was surprised all of the reviews hadn't given the place five stars. This is a fantastic place to get out of the car, unwind for a day or two and wash off some of the desert dust and sand, which is exactly what we did. Built adjacent to some spectacular fossiled red dunes (which are lit up by night), the staff could not have been more friendly and the food was great. The rooms were very tasteful, air conditioned, clean and overlooked the dunes. The lodge gives you (what else would you espect in the desert) a choice of swimming pools: chlorine or salt water. Both are set amid lush, well manicured gardens. The bar also has a great cocktail menu - which greatly helped with the unwinding process. I would not hestitate to recommend the lodge to anyone passing by.
