Great homemade pasta and a friendly staff make this a great stop. Not really a family restaurant but the food is good and worth the trip if you are in the area.

Reading the previous reviews, my family and friends were really excited to try Vesuvio during the Christmas break. Although the stuffed shrimp appetizer and wine were excellent, every other appetizer and entree was average and not worth the hefty prices. But the purpose of this review is to warn families that, although there is a children's menu, this is NOT a family friendly restaurant. In fact, it was downright hostile. We were sat next to a couple clearing having a date night who stared at our table every time the kids' voices raised. Rather than get self conscious or upset at them for their glares, I felt bad for this couple since it was entirely the restaurant's fault for putting a table of 12 next to them. What made the evening even worse was that our waitress was utterly inattentive and rude. She practically flung a dish at one of our kids who was seated at the end of the table and then rolled her eyes when he made a comment. I even caught her complaining to another server about the probable large clean up our table would leave while I was en route to the restroom. Considering we had a large table of 6 adults and 6 kids, perhaps it would've been better to serve another table instead of ignoring us and bad mouthing us all night. She also never brought a drink that was ordered and charged us for it anyway. When we pointed out the mistake, she neither apologized for failing to bring the drink but charging us for it and never offered to bring one to make up for the error. I have always been sympathetic to waitstaff and always leave extra tip due to the minor extra clean up that kids in general leave behind. This was the first time I only left 10% tip (and primarily because the bus boy did not need to be punished) for the offensive service and lack of respect.

We went on the recommendation of our hotel owner. The atmosphere is like a really nice club. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. The food was overall good, but not outstanding - my wife said her lobster was chewy - but my veal was very tender. The appetizers were very good, but portions on the small side, which I wish the server had told us since we said all four of us were going to share them - we would have ordered more - Overall, an enjoyable dining experience in a small mountain town - a pleasant surprise!

We have been going to Vesuvio Restaurant for over 14 years, each time we visit Windham we stop in to see owner Joe and have a marvelous meal. Have to say, the clams (casino and baked) are to die for!!!! Regardless of what we order for dinner, the clams are a must. Service is superb as well!

We thought we were going to have a nice Thanksgiving Friday family dinner. Also were expecting a lobster special. In addition to running out of the special, the salad had an eaten olive pit in it. As a courtesy we were given a bottle of cheap red wine, but nothing off of the $800 bill. The incident was laughed off by the waitresses but when the owner came over for the obligatory kudos, there was no mention of it. The food was basic to lousy, the service was adequate.

Hello footprof. We are sorry that you were disappointed with your experience at Vesuvio Restaurant. There was, indeed, an error with the food presentation, and the olive pit should not have been on the salad dish. We do, however, keep multiple ingredients in the salad cooler, and we believe that the pit was dropped from the shelf above, where we store marinated olive dishes for the tables. Again, we apologize that it happened, and we did add a complementary bottle of wine to your $600 bill, the same wine that the table had already been drinking.
As far as the Friday night lobster special, we advertise as "until supplies last." We do our very best to order enough inventory to last all night, but unfortunately, by the time your party had arrived and ordered around 8:30 pm, we had sold out of the special.
We wish that you had expressed your concerns to the owner, Joe, when he visited your table to see that everything turned out all right. If anyone had expressed that they were displeased with their experience, we assure we would have addressed it.
Again, we apologize that you did not enjoy your experience, and we will continue to strive for the best customer service and food quality.
