I stayed here with some friends over the 4th of July weekend, and we had a wonderful time. The cabin itself was clean, bright and attractive. Right outside our front door was a garden and a dock jutting out into a protected cove, perfect for swimming and relaxing.
Oak Point is a beautiful community, and most of the homes are occupied by families who have lived there and visited for generations. This makes for a wonderful, idyllic, "small town" feeling. Everyone seems to know everyone else, and the people are friendly. The cove was wonderful and we saw many families hanging out at the dock enjoying a brisk dip and maybe a few cannonballs all day long.
This is a great spot from which to boat out onto the river. There is a public boat launch about 500 feet away from the cabin. You could also bring a canoe or kayak to launch right from the cabin dock, I suppose.
Lots of excursions are possible in the area, and we did go out on the river a couple of times, but honestly we were happy to be someplace that was quiet and where the pace of live seemed to harken back to days gone by.
Lisa, the manager, took really great care of us, and even stopped by one afternoon just to chat, which was nice because she is so friendly and easy to be around. You'll feel like family at Oak Point!
