We were going to take a room at Belhurst Castle. However, because there is no elevator in the castle, we opted to take a room at the Vinifera Inn. There were no discounts or specials available. The price turned out to be an average of $378 per night, even though the weather seemed more like winter than spring and it was too cold to walk around the grounds
When we opened the door to our room, I could tell by the smell that there was a gas fireplace in use in the room. It was nice having the fireplace, but we had to open the window to air out the room. The room itself was quite large. It featured a small bar with water and coffee available and a small refrigerator. It also had a Jacuzzi in one corner of the main room, and a large reasonably comfortable bed in the other. You could look out the 2 double hung windows for a nice view of the lake. The bathroom contained a double shower. So far so good.
However, there were a few nit-picky things which lowered my opinion of the room. When people (I think) were running the Jacuzzi in another room, there was a VERY LOUD hum resonating in our room. Also, at times you could clearly hear people thumping around upstairs. In addition, the paperwork in the general information notebook was water damaged, the TV was quite small, there were no paper or pens in the desk, the blanket on the bed was stained, and one port of the electrical outlet near the bed wasn't working. Not terrible, but not what was expected for the price. Overall, I hovered between rating the room average and rating it very good. Perhaps staying in the Castle would have been a better choice for us.
There were a couple other positive aspects of our stay. We ate at both the tavern and the restaurant, and were pleased with the service and quality of the meals at both of them. The staff at Edgar's went above and beyond what was expected to help us celebrate our anniversary. My wife also thought her massage at the spa was excellent. Finally, the complimentary samples of wine or beer at the gift shop were a nice touch.
