We dined here after attending an event at Sleepy Hollow which meant we could not arrive until a bit before the kitchen closed. We phoned the restaurant and they assured us that as long as we got there by 9:15 they would seat us. Indeed they did and in no way rushed us to order or in the timing in which they brought out the food despite our late hour arrival.
We each started with soup, pasta fagioli and lentil. Both were brought to the table steaming hot, obviously freshly prepared, and in generous portions. They were both delicious and not at all spicy. Fresh Parmesan and pepper were offered. Plentiful fresh bread and bread sticks were offered as was both butter and olive oil.
We each had a pasta dish. My partner ordered the calamari fra diablo over linguine--delicious but not nearly spicy enough for his taste. It was more like a fresh pomodoro sauce. I had the linguine vongole which had ample clams and was lightly seasoned with just the right amount of fresh garlic and again, not salty, unlike the way many restaurants prepare this dish. Portions were average and reasonably priced.
This is a huge restaurant, although given the late hour, only one back room was being utilized. It was a bit cold inside and it would have been nice to have the fireplace going. Service was personal and very efficient. The wine pour by the glass was fairly generous although a bit pricey for the quality of the type we chose. We were too full for dessert but they had already taken the dessert cart away in any case.
This restaurant is a good option for those wishing to enjoy a more traditional Italian dining experience if you are in or near the Tarrytown area.
