Have not used the Fairfield brand of Marriott for many years. When they were first introduced as a "budget" arm of the company (back in early 90's) they were a cutting edge alternative to the "full-service" model. However, in the last decade, many locations seemed to fall into neglect and became very run-down and in questionable locations....little better than a Motel 6 (sorry Motel 6!!)
Pleasantly surprised at the newly re-invented image of the brand in Syracuse!
Bright and clean....and designed for today's business/leisure traveller.
Rooms were good-sized (King) with a separate sitting area and second large flat-screen television. Bathrooms were also spacious, clean and with a great walk-in shower and backlit mirror. (ALL hotels should discard their gross bath-tubs IMHO!)
Nice to have a microwave and mini-fridge...take it a step further and replace the standard coffee-maker with a Keurig/Nespresso!!!
Lobby included a semi "funky" dining area...bright colours and stylish furnishings... for the included expanded continental breakfast, that was well-attended and was pretty good! Scrambled eggs, veggie sausage and the usual array of carb-heavy options! Pool area was tiny and really only usable for families wanting a diversion for young children. Exercise facility equally small but serviceable.
Interaction with the staff was pleasant though limited, as I had pre-checked on the Marriott app. Like Hilton's better, as I didn't see an option to actually choose the room!
