The brunch itself was very good. The people working there, not so good! First we arrived and asked for a table outside, they said there was a 20 minute wait, so we ate inside and it was very nice, by the window. The truth was that they were ending brunch soon and did not want to service outside any longer, tell me the truth I'm sitting by the window and watching what's happening.

In case the restaurant has any interest, we had brunch Sunday, August 12th and sat at table 16. We had a young man very polite and obviously a college student...he spent so much time discussing college and post-college questions with other male guests...we were 3 women, so maybe he thought we didn't no much about higher education. RUDE!!!!! I WAS DIEING FOR A REFILL OF MY WATER!!!! He kept apologizing for ignoring him, finally I said OK, but don't keep doing it. When I went to leave there was no one at the hostess station to vent my displeasure, but it was pointed out in the tip.

I'm for NY city so $40.00 for a nice brunch doesn't faze me in the slightest, but the service was terrible. You have a bunch of people running around and telling the next person to get plates, etc...They were too busy setting up for dinner.

The Heirloom, in the Grande Dame hotel of Chautauqua (the Athenaeum, built in 1888), enjoys a great location. Try to get a reservation on the porch deck for maximum viewing. The offerings, although a bit pretentious and expensive, features locally sourced food. I enjoyed the trout dinner. Service this year is much better than in the past.

We had a party of about sixteen people. Reservations were phoned two days in advance. When we arrived, nothing was prepared. The staff did not even know we had a reservation. We had to wait fifteen minutes while they pulled some tables together. Even then we were squeezed in like sardines! There were no table cloths, paper napkins, and minimal service. We had to search for a server anytime we needed something. With the prices they charge, we expected much more.

The lunch was a crowded buffet ($17.00) which consisted of a salad table, a dessert table, two soups, and a sandwich board. None of the food tasted home made. This place must live on CISCO. Items were exhausted, dishes were empty, and replenishing was slow. There was absolutely nothing noteworthy or special.

This has happened to our group two years in a row now. We have learned our lesson. There will not be a third.

Finally got it right! We have been eating here once a week for the past 6 years..This year we are here 3 times. The menu was great with plenty of options--I ordered the trout 2 times it was that good. The stagg this year was spot on. We will keep our fingers crossed for next year. We loved the creme brulee and unfortunately it was taken off the menu.
