I don't even know where to start - this was our first safari experience and first time in Africa and Ulusaba wildly exceeded expectations (and I had pretty high expectations). From the moment you arrive you are greeted by your ranger, tracker and hosts and immediately given the five star treatment, including champagne at the airstrip!

It only gets better from there as you do your first game drive. I can't say enough about Ryan and Orange, our ranger and tracker. Their level of knowledge was absolutely mind-blowing - everything from knowing the life story of a leopard to explaining termite mounds to spotting a chameleon on a tree at night. They were highly professional at all times but also really fun to spend time with. We saw the Big 5 plus cheetah and wild dogs, a leopard eating an impala in a tree, and a pride of 6 lions, just to name a few! Every drive I thought "there is no way it could be better than the last" and yet Ryan and Orange would work to find something even cooler.

The entire staff provided 5 star service, and they even upgraded our room to the River Room which was absolutely gorgeous overlooking the bush and accessed by a swing bridge. The food was incredible - you will not go hungry (we had to pass on lunch a few days because all of the food was so amazing)! The team even surprised with a special anniversary dinner in the wine cellar one night, which was a very nice touch.

I normally don't repeat trips because there is so much of the world to see, but I'm already counting down the days until I can get back to South Africa and Ulusaba. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Room Tip: River room was fantastic!

Dear Christine O,

It’s always a treat to read lovely reviews from our guests, but we have to say hearing from a ‘Safari Virgin’ is particularly special. We were delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the experience and that you thought Ryan and Orange’s knowledge was ‘mind-blowing’. They both loved hearing that you thought they were fun to be around and that they kept surprising you with more cool sights, thank you! What made your review even more special was hearing that you are already planning your return trip. We would love to see you again one day to make more special memories, and only hope we won’t have to wait too long!

Have a magic day,

We chose Ulusaba for our first safari experience, and also as our elopement wedding destination.
We are so glad we did!
From the time of booking we knew we had made the right decision, Brittany and the whole team took care of every detail and arranged our wedding without it feeling overwhelming but making sure it was a special and beautiful day for the two of us.
So if you are considering Ulusaba for your wedding, do it!!
Having never been on a safari trip before we were not sure what to expect but it was absolutely stunning. We chose to stay in Safari Lodge, and have no regrets. The view from Rock Lodge is beautiful but we enjoyed being near the wildlife, we saw female Nyala everyday snacking on the flower beds and the cheeky monkeys trying to steal bread at lunchtime were very funny. The treehouse was a favourite spot of ours, we had our post wedding champagne there, which the team provided privately for us, with tea lights and flower petals. On our last morning after we checked out we sat and watched the hippos until it was time to leave. The whole Ulusaba team look after you so well, we saw an incredible amount of wildlife and each game drive held its own memorable moments we will never forget. One in particular was our chase through the bush to see the African Wild Dogs and their puppies! The radio went mad with the guides informing each other of the sighting and we were so lucky to see these beautiful endangered animals running through the bush with 8 puppies, Amazing! The love the guides, trackers and all the staff have for the wildlife is obvious and lovely.
We have definitely left part of our hearts in Africa, and can’t wait to return here in the future to celebrate our anniversary.
Thank-you to everyone, in particular Brittany, Stuart & Sipho our guide and tracker, and very lovely Gugu our spa therapist who helped me get ready for the wedding and also did our couples “Devotion” massage which was just excellent.
The whole team are down to earth, easy going and attentive, a very special team for a very special place!
Thank-you! x

Dear spannerwingnut,

We were delighted to welcome you both to Ulusaba for such a special trip and what a privilege it was. We could not be happier to hear how much you enjoyed your day with us and those cheeky extra guests! It means so much to us to hear that you have left with so many fond memories and that you have left a piece of your heart in Africa. We may be biased but we too think our team are pretty special and are thrilled to hear you felt the same. Thank you really doesn’t seem enough, but from the bottom our hearts thank you for sharing such a lovely review with us; we thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about your stay and really hope to welcome you back to celebrate your anniversary… we’ll get the bubbles on ice!

We just returned from Sabi Sands private game reserve at Ulusaba lodge. A Richard Branson property bordering the N. E. corner of Krueger park. I cannot express my attachment to this place when I live so far away in the USA. It gets in your soul. It is truly magical. You are made to feel not only special with hugs from the staff, but also your guide and tracker as well.. If your not a touchy feely person they are respectful of that aspect as well. The chef Monica was amazingly creative, so all the meals were fantastic and the selection vast. Beds were down filled and comfortable , showers walk in, Balconies with animals strolling underneath. Elephants come up to small fountains and drink their fill right below you. You can take the swinging bridge all the way to one of the watering holes and watch interaction between hippos and crocks among other thirsty animals. We were thrilled to have seen the big 5 on our day of arrival and then many different species on each game drive. Both Liam Burroughs and Phillip Andrews were our guides and each indescribably knowledgeable of facts of the bush, identification of birds and trees, termite mounds and animal behavior. They entertained us with by marvelous stories of their own experiences. I cannot say enough about David our favorite tracker, He can read even the minutest tracks and hears leopards when no one else hears anything. All of a sudden out of the bush walks a leopard astounding us all. As long as my body holds up I will return again and again. Thanks to our fantastic travel agent Desire Saayman at ICON TRAVEL for finding this unforgettable magical place.

Wow, where to start with this wonderful review!? I don’t think we could ask for a bigger compliment than hearing that you would describe Ulusaba as ‘magical luxury’ because that’s exactly what we aim for. Life in the bush does have a funny way of touching our souls, and it always means so much when we hear this from our guests so thank you for sharing these special words. Liam and Phillip absolutely loved taking you on your game drives and sharing a few facts and stories with you. David was particularly touched when he heard that he was your favourite Tracker, thank you! It really was such a treat to hear about your memories that will last a lifetime, thank you for sharing this wonderful review and we only hope that you might come back and see us again one day in the future.

5 stars isn’t enough to describe everything about Ulusaba. The location, setting, people and quality of service is outstanding. We were so lucky to have this opportunity to spend 3 days here and how special they were. If you want the best Ranger/Tracker team look no further than Liam and Dave... these 2 have amazing passion for their roles and make everyone part of the journey, a true pleasure to have meet them. If you ever get a chance to do a Safari then I would recommend this place hands down.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcomed and this continued throughout our visit by all of the happy and efficient staff.
Dining facilities were amazing- both inside and out and with a romantic wine cellar experience with dining just for the two of us although it can accommodate six people.
Rooms and suites were very spacious with decks and some with private pools.
Very cleaned and serviced regularly and snacks and mini bar extensive.
All meals were beautifully presented and very tasty. A very full range of food choices.
Gymnasium and out door pool on site and also a stunning treehouse viewing deck overlooking a watering hole close by.
It was lovely to wake up to find four legged friends by the deck and outside the front door.

Room Tip: All our good but request one with private pool with outdoor shower.
