My husband decided that my friend and I needed a girls trip, so my friend wanted to come back to Ruidoso. I went on line to look for a place that would be perfect for us. t We wanted a place that was big enough for each of us to have our own room yet small enough to be cozy, we didn't a hotel room. La Petit Cottage was perfect. A quaint cottage, with enough room for us to be comfortable and large enough for us to have our own bedroom. The house was staged perfectly in Shabby French Chic! The kitchen was stocked with the staples, especially coffee. A bottle of wine was left for us in the fridge. The back deck was great for wildlife watching (even if it was the last morning). The house was close to downtown and yet close enough for us to enjoy the race track too. I would think a couple or a small family group also.
We also read the guest book and got some great suggestions of dining. Each place we chose was wonderful. For Breakfast or lunch we chose Cornerstone Bakery, Tina's Cafe(trying sharing an entrée) and Sacred Ground. The best pizza we had ever eaten came from Cafe Rio and we had great tacos a Cafe Calienté.
My husband and I loved staying in this cozy little cottage. There's a great back porch to hang out on and the tea/coffee/cocoa supplies provided by the hosts were an added bonus!
The location was great! It was off the main roads, surrounded by nature, but close to shops and local attractions. The view from the back porch was serene and peaceful and perfect for morning coffee and evening drinks.
The home was incredibly warm, welcoming and secure. The amenities were just as described.
Ruidoso is one of my favorite "go to" places for a fun, relaxing getaway. I have visited many times, but this was the best lodging experience II have ever Had there! La Petit Cottage has a restful ambiance with smart decorating touches and every amenity a traveler could ask for. The tempurpedic bed (each side adjusts independently) alone was fantastic, but there was so much more! We drank perfect coffee and rich hot chocolate from the Keurig coffee maker every morning (they even provided the coffee and hot chocolate!), and sat on the back deck and watched deer graze a few feet from us every evening. Everything about the cottage makes one feel at home - the towels are thick and soft, the roomy glass walled shower with a "rain" shower head is wonderful, the satellite tv stations are great and the internet access is reliable - and free! The hammock, which overlooks the creek behind the house is blissful - where else could one get that feature! Sophie's description mentioned barking dogs and road noise, but we found neither to be bothersome. The dogs rarely barked for long before their owner's quieted them, and mostly, the dogs barked at nearby deer! They never barked at night, and the road noise is actually minimal, and is a great trade off for the convenience of having town so close, although the wooded neighborhood makes it seem miles away from the hubbub. Sophie is a joy to work with, and is very accessible throughout the stay if a problem should arise, although I can't imagine what that would be. La Petit Cottage has it all! This should definitely be your "go to" happy place - it is for us now!
