Thanks to others recommendations we had lunch at this very good restaurant. The food was authentic, even having a tortilla cook demonstration over a wood fired stove right at the entryway.
The daily lunch special burrito was enormous and flavorful. The salsa served with the chips was so zesty we limited our intake. A highlight was sopipias served complementary with the meal, with honey or the apricot jam, a nice finish to a hearty meal.

This is in a very old building and has a lot of ambiance. The food is traditional mexican or maybe tex-mex. The service is very good, but try not to be in a hurry. Enjoy your visit and relax. Tortilla's are made fresh on an old wood stove top.

A real gem of a restaurant, tucked away in Espanola. Great place to eat if you are heading to Chimayo or Taos. Just off the main highway.

This is the best New Mexican food you can find.
Fresh guacamole to share. Great chili rellanos.
Even sopapillas are extra special, served up with apricot preserves. Yum.
I can't say enough about the food served up, for years by this New Mexican family. Great story about how it all got started.

The food is terrific as is the service. While this is primarily a restaurant for Mexican food there are entrees of other than Mexican food. Very good atmosphere--quiet and with tile work that usually associated with Mexico and Spain. The beef tacos are great as is the chili served on the side. The green is spicy and the red is best experienced with cold water nearby. Sopapillas with honey were a complimentary side to the meal. Espanola is not really on the beaten path (approx. 30 miles north of Santa Fe) but this restaurant is well worth a side trip. This is the original and there are offshoots in Santa Fe and Pojaque that I have not yet visited.

Recommended by my brother who is crazy about Mexican food. Traditional New Mexican cuisine. Known for their award winning tacos. I had chili relleno which was delicious. I sampled my grandsons beef taco and understood why they win awards! Dinners came with complementary green salad which was a plus. Would definitely eat here again.
