I'd stayed at this hotel approx 4 yrs ago. There was a lovely woman that was in charge named Joyce back then. This time my experience was not wonderful. I had my 2 small service dogs with me this time. I notified desk attendant, Rose, of my service animals. That's when it began. I was told about a former guest that allegedly had brought a fake service animal. Well, it wasn't me but I seemed to have gotten the repercussions from that alleged fake service animal fiasco. I had booked for 3 nights. My idea was to stay in a diff haunted room each night. Day before, I was called to be told that each room after I checked out, would have to be on "hold" for 2 days. Whereupon no guest would be able to stay till dog presence left could be cleaned thoroughly by housecleaning. Ok, so I accommodated the hotel by volunteering to stay in only 1 room. I also did my best to assure that my service animals were well behaved and crate trained, nor allowed to roam the room freely nor on furniture. Again, Rose brought former alleged service dog fiasco. Next day, I check in with hesitancy for 3 nights. I paid in advance again assuring my service animals were not going to be a problem. I got to room settled in, no issues until......next am. I was approached rather aggressively by Rose requesting...I'd stayed at this hotel approx 4 yrs ago. There was a lovely woman that was in charge named Joyce back then. Next day, I check in with hesitancy for 3 nights. I paid in advance again assuring my service animals were not going to be a problem. I got to room settled in, no issues until......next am. I was approached rather aggressively by Rose requesting I provide service dog certification paperwork. I declined stating illegal to request. Again, she said she was needing them. Again, I declined but stated that she has my contact info and have hotel legal dept contact me. I referred here to NM ADA and NM Governors Commission on Disability. She stated she did not know about laws and I referred her to their webistie to educate herself and staff. So now, I'm uncomfortable after being put into a spot of having to justify my service animals to a hotel staffer who admits she's not educated nor experienced with service animal ADA laws. I took it upon myself to send her via email that evening the links to both websites. She responded appropriately and stated she would post them for staffers. Ok, so still uncomfortable and waiting for another aggressive approach by Rose, I no longer went into the original area of hotel, I ate at other restaurants in town, and stayed away from Rose as best as I could. Early am on checkout I requested desk clerk on duty, unknown older female, to accompany me to room for a walk through, as to guarantee me no future Rose issues. Again, I was true to my word. No leftover presence from my animals whatsoever. I'll never go back there again, nor recommend it as long as Rose is employed there and management has not been changed. I absolutely could have raised a stink but instead I educated them as best as I could while robbing myself out of a comfortable stay.More
