Always visit here twice yearly, love it and what it stands for! The grounds are beautiful, the church is warm and welcoming, take the time to visit

This is a sacred place with true natural beauty. It can get crowded, so go during an off time. There is some commercialism, but I guess that goes with the territory.

We visited early in the morning, not much of a touristy feel then. Very peaceful, quiet experience.
The people caring for the chapel were very helpful and seemed welcoming to those who were visiting.
Make sure to go in the back area to see the devices left by those who were healed. There is also a
small pit of holy dirt that you can touch and use for healing purposes if you wish. Good to just sit
in the chapel and soak up the peacefulness. There is a small gift shop with local crafts and religious
items. Also, a bathroom is available on the grounds.

We used to live near Cloudcroft, NM. We would come up to Chimayo for truly special meals at Rancho de Chimayo Restaurant, and,of course, visit the Sanctuario. Back in the '80's it was "unknown". Now it has certainly been "discovered" and developed... Yet it retains it's authenticity, mystery and charm.
I still recommend it.

I've always enjoyed my visits to this historic and magical place before. I was really saddened to see all the expansion and commercialization. It's so Disney now that it's lost its authenticity.
