The restaurant was recommended by hostess on the train so we decided to give it a go. The food was very good and we enjoyed it very much. The service however was lacking.

I had the Spicy Alfredo which was good, with a little bit of heat from green chili. My husband had the barbeque chicken which was very tasty. The cherry pie, heated, a la mode was the highlight of the meal. The wait staff was sweet and efficient. We would go back again, maybe later today.

Excellent for the evening meal when you expect to pay a little more for eating. The menu choices are excellent with some seafood and steaks, and there is a nightly special.
The burgers are about the best we have found in Chama, and usually make The High Country our first meal when we arrive in Chama every year.
Prices are a little higher than most places in Chama, but the dining is a little more than "casual" although you don't have to get dressed up to eat there.
You can order cocktails from the waiter, or if you want to watch NFL football, and a more casual setting, the High Country bar is available.
Excellent food and excellent service make the High Country a place to try and avoid disappointment.

Have eaten dinner here several times and the steaks are always excellent, like eating in the bar if available, (buckets of peanuts) Keep in mind this is not a big city or one of the big name $50 dollar a steak $8.00 potato and $10 salad places, but if you want a ribeye cooked the way you ordered it with a potato and salad for about $22-24 dollars and a cold beer this is it. Also have some other great New Mexico dishes.
