A pleasant drive from east of Albuquerque to Santa Fe, with a stop at Golden. Lovely trading post, great Native American jewelry, pots, kachinas and other things. Very well priced.

Nice drive through some "ghost towns" Great little art/gifts shops and cafes. Perfect way to see the area between Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

While this road is not perfect, it was a pleasant alternative to interstate travel that can suck the adventurer out of you. We had time to stop at Burger Boy in Cedar Crest, a family-owned 60s burger stand with reasonable prices and Tinkertown, which is a unique woodcarvers hobby gone creative and wild. North of that besides Madrid which we didn't have time for, is native desert in rolling hills and vast vistas over the valley. There was little traffic midday on a weekday until we got closer to Santa Fe. In a couple days, we'll go back and explore a couple places we didn't have time for.

We took the Turquoise Trail from Santa Fe as we headed south. It's a nice ride, with little traffic, and some nice views. The town of Madrid is worth a stop.

A wonderful day drive through beautiful ranges and picturesque towns. Madrid is rather touristy but Tinkertown Museum is priceless. Visit Carrillo's and the Casa Grande
Trading Post. We stopped at The Hollar for lunch and it was delicious - bisquet urged with buffalo mest, local goat cheese and green chiles. Beautiful terrain to view.
