A lovely beach to swim on - the water was warm and clear. There was a huge wooden swing in the water that my daughter loved to swing on. There were plenty of chairs and tables along the beach. We were able to get a drink easily at one of the beach cafes.

As many places in Phu Quoc it is the surrounding area that is dirty and full of rubbish - this is the downside to areas such as these.

Spent a few hours here as we were visiting the south of the island. The beach is beautiful , there are (overpriced) restaurants for food and drinks, and if you don't mind walking a bit you can find some more relaxed spots (or you can rent some chairs from the businesses around. (yes there is some garbage in some places, but so do all the other beaches in SEA).

I see very mixed reviews of this beach. Just been there today 3 April 2018in front of Paradiso beach bar. Clear water nearly calm sea. No rubish in the water and no rubish on the stretch we were on. But where beach have no development rubish are lying on the beach. Not a single speedboat with daytrip guests so not very crowded which is a huge plus.

Sao beach is quite breathtaking, powdery white sand and a gentle incline into the sea.
There's several rope swings from coconut trees dotted about along its length and some nice quirky bars and restaurants.
There's quite a lot of debris washes onto the beach but the locals clean it up, unfortunately they tend to pile it at secluded parts of the beach which can be a bit unsightly.
Well worth a visit

If you wanna spend your time roaming around rubbish, overpaying for mediocre seafood lunch in one of the restros, being chased for payment by the locals who try to charge you for laying your towel on the sand and avoiding the seawater as it's so polluted - go there. One of the worst beaches I've seen in my life, a bitter disappointment given that it's recommended and advertised as one of the best spots on the island.
