A 45 minute drive from Korat. Very interesting to see the old temple. Cheap entry. Can get really hot inside the area though.

It's a mini, mini, mini Angkor Wat. Which, makes sense, as this marked the northern end of the Ancient (Angkor - Phimai) Khmer Highway. The temple complex itself is small and can be explored easily in a couple of hours. After you're done, support the local economy and get some food at the street market (if open) or at one of the many local stalls/restaurants.

Get there: Take the "Nakhon Ratchasima -- Phimai -- Chumphuang" bus from Korat.

The historical park contains ruins of historical period similar to the Angkor found in Cambodia. In the information center signs in Thai and English explain the history. Prepare a hat and sunscreen as there is not much shade in the area. In about two hours of time you have seen most of it.

This historical site is one of two most important Khmer monuments in today's Thailand -- the other is Prasat Hin Phanom Rung in Buriram Province. The structures here (and at Phanom Rung) are literally reconstructed from piles of stone remains of the former temple using "anastylosis" technique. Definitely should not be missed if you are in the vicinity of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat).

Located in the heart of Phimai district located about 300 Km from the city of Bangkok, this place is really worth a visit. If you are a history buff, I bet you are going to love this historical place a lot and it is a must view attraction when you visit of Korat. The entrance fee is 100 baht. Historical park is about an hour drive from Korat city.

For the recommended time for visiting this place, I would say in the morning when the sun is not so hot or in the evening when it is much cooler. Do bring sufficient water and also tissue to wipe your sweat and also a cap along. If you want to remember this attraction, there are a few gift shops where you can stop by to buy your gift that you want. The price of the souvenir is very value for money. A few doors away, there are also ice cream shop and also a 7 eleven store.
