Just WOW

This place is a little bit of heaven. The villas themselves are breathtaking. Just huge with their own pool as well. Each one is secluded and has everything you need …. and more.
Breeze restaurant serves great food with the most amazing sea / beach location.
Simply can not fault anything about this place and that includes the staff who are first class. One of the best places I have stayed anywhere in the world.

I would stay in complex if I went there again as we found Seminyak to be too full of hawkers and really dirty / tacky. If it wasn’t for the sun, it could have been any run down UK seaside resort.
Date of stay: April 2024
Room Tip: Seminyak itself is not great. Stay on hotel complex

This is the best luxury resort Villa we have stayed out. Not only is the Villa exceptional with this size, facilities and private pool, the service is exceptional and friendly. The other unique benefit of this resort is the inclusive breakfast and afternoon dinner can be had at anytime and anywhere. This makes for a great relaxing stay without any time restrictions.

After a brief albeit spectacular stay at the Como Uma Ubud, we were considerably excited to be staying at The Samaya, which had also been recommended by some friends who stayed here last year, but it’s fair to say our experience of Seminyak has been tarnished by the food at the resort.

The property is wonderful - massive villas, decent pool and access to the beach. The staff generally is hospitable and courteous. However, the food is shockingly underwhelming. From a lack of buffet breakfast, to being served waffles and paratha/curry, which were apparently re-heated frozen foods, some tasteless fruits, machine-made coffee, the quality and options of food left a lot to be desired.

Considering their room tariff, you’d expect a significantly better gourmet experience. If this is the kind of food that propels their beach-side restaurant Breeze into one of the best-rated restaurants in Seminyak, and Bali, then it certainly can’t be attributed to the food they serve.

I would recommend the Oberoi or W Seminyak, which are conveniently located from Samaya, and are priced the same.

At first we thought perhaps The Samaya was pricey and booked to stay at Alila (which wasn't much cheaper) as we weren't convinced we wanted a private villa, preferring a pool bar and atmosphere - but took the risk and it paid off. We were not disappointed with our change of heart to The Samaya.

We stayed in a Royal Garden one-bedroom villa and loved it so much we are booking for the same time next year. When you find that little peace of heaven why change? We would highly recommend the Royal Garden Villas, it is a shorter walk across the road to the lobby and main Restaurant 'Breeze' - than what some of the larger hotels' distance from a pokey hotel suite to their lobby/dining areas would be... But the staff couldn't be more willing eager to take you back and forth in the golf cart if you don't like the stroll. The villa itself is massive, as is the private pool and well-appointed, the bed is the largest bed I have ever seen and super comfy.

Breakfast - we ate each morning at The Breeze Restaurant as we loved being on the beach and watching the walkers, that was just our preference but you can have breakfast in your villa if you wish. We did have afternoon tea in our villa a few afternoons which was lovely. The menu for breakfast is extensive, there is something for everyone - we certainly worked our way through most of it and all delicious.

Location - second to none. It was a tranquil setting yet it was right in the heart of Seminyak, just a short stroll to anywhere of interest, main eateries and shopping.

Staff - so hard to single anyone out as ALL were over accommodating, it was evident they all enjoyed working at The Samaya and were incredibly hospitable. THANK YOU to the groundkeepers, gardeners, butlers, drivers, wait staff and security for your infectious smiles and five-star service/ hospitality.

To balance the good - the ONLY complaint or warning is don't order the pizza, it was a McCain's Frozen pizza at best... that is being overly picky but had to have one gripe to balance the 100 good.

We would rate it 5 out of 5... ambience, value, comfort, luxury.... it does have it all.

Came for our honeymoon 7 years ago and loved it so much we decided to re-visit for some pre-Christmas sun and relaxation and to celebrate my wife's retirement.
Bali, in the cities is pretty disgusting, filthy, noisy and never sleeps. Go out of the cities and it's beautiful (if you turn a blind eye to the odd black bag of rubbish thrown in a drainage ditch), a stunning paradise and fascinating culture. We still agree that we could easily fill a shipping container with locally made furniture, sculptures, art, light fittings and 'stuff'.
The Samaya is little more 'tired' as a resort than we remember, but still excellent and everywhere on resort is beautifully clean and tidy. I would still stay here again in the blink of an eye.
We stayed in the Beach front Villas (Royal Pavilion I think) again, with designated beachfront sunbeds so no worrying about towels being left as blockers! there are 8 Villa's so max 16 folk to occupy the sun beds on the front.
It's a Huge Villa, with a large private pool and all set in a walled garden. The Villa has a sitting room, huge bed-room with an 'Emperor bed' and then what most hotels would describe as a leisure-suite, including huge sunken bath, indoor shower, toilet (separate) out door shower, and huge dressing room with lots of storage and a lovely dressing table at the far end ( a good 20 metres away) with great lighting for 'getting ready' to go out.
Beds are huge, four poster with light drapes. Plenty of plug in insect repellent so never bitten in 14 days.
Fresh exotic fruits each day, oh and the local 'finger' banana's are something else!
Sun bed drinks service could be very slow. Afternoon tea was a bit of a disappointment, I remember it being so much better, sandwiches quite chunky and dried out this time whereas fresh and dainty, along with the cakes 7 years ago.
Restaurant food and service superb! Absolutely the best breakfasts anywhere we've stayed, complimented by being alfresco overlooking the beach and being looked after by the best staff.
The main restaurant in the evening was excellent (expensive) and we were always guaranteed a table if we wanted one (a positive change from last time). It can be busy at Sunset (6:00) as most of Bali book to eat and watch sunset, which is spectacular! So popular in fact, that they're quite keen to clear the sun-beds to get some extra tables in... also seems like the place to propose, the place was awash with rose petals, in a beautiful way, so be ready to cheer and applaud assuming the answer is yes!
I proposed to my wife while we were in our 'scuffs' at the end of a rainy dog walk and these guys really make me feel like I should have made a much bigger effort !
This really is a very special hotel, if your budget will stretch, Beach side Villa, you'll have memories you'll treasure for life.

As an aside, if you want a superb lunch, leave it until around 2pm (so its quieter) and pop across the road to The Sea Circus, simple, superb, exquisite food, not cheap but absolutely delicious and very popular

Well what can I say about this paradise hotel. If we could give six stars we would.
Arriving in Bali from Singapore we were collected by our private transfer and had a few concerns as the driver negotiated and avoided the 3.5 million scooters. As the roads narrowed through Seminyak our concerns didn’t change but the second we arrived at the hotel, oh WOW.
Greeted with a scented garland, a refreshing drink and towel, the check in was smooth and easy.
We were then escorted to our accommodation by our own butler…yes butler…and this is when we were really blown away. This was a private Villa with our own 20m pool, outside day bed and other seated areas.
Inside was so spacious it was unbelievable, from the lounge area with flat screen TV, fresh fruit and complimentary bar, coffee machine, we then stepped up into the bedroom area with a massive four poster bed, writing desk, another TV and a complimentary handbag for Mrs J.
Then into the bathroom area because it was an area and not a room. Stretching the full width of the Villa it contained a massive WC cubicle, walk in shower, whirlpool bath with another TV, his and her basins, an outside shower area and door to the outside pool area.
Each day we were greeted by our personal maid/butler who enquired as to our plans for the day and if there was anything we needed.
The room was cleaned and new towels provided while we had breakfast in the hotel beach restaurant.
We were only a matter of one minute from the immaculate main pool and the fantastic restaurant, which I will review separately.
Didn’t try outside restaurants because this one was so good, with stunning location on the beach.
When we used the beachside decking for some sun bathing, the beds were luxurious and the towels put on them by the staff without having to ask.
We then received complimentary iced water and fresh fruit while sun bathing.
The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional, polite, professional, nothing was ever too much trouble and their smiling faces wee brilliant.
Check out was a sad day but again was so smooth.
What else can I say about this hotel.
We would return tomorrow and would recommend to anyone.
