The chalets are situated on a slope overlooking the vineyards and with a beautiful South-Eastern view of the mountains. In April it was chilly in the evenings but the fireplace made up for the cold! The chalets ( we stayed in Scott's cottage) are well situated apart and there is a nice splashpool for summertime. You can go for a great hike in the mountains and we saw beautiful owls at our chalet at night. Wood is provided but the chalets are not serviced. The rooms are big enough and one has an ensuite shower whilst the other has a bath. The location is perfect as the road from the farm leads directly into town (Franschoek) and is close to many great wine estates and restaurants. It is nice and quiet at night and one feels as if you are in the bush whilst actually close to town. Great value for money and can be recommended!

Our weekend in the heart of the horse, Courchevel was a magical experience filled with many unexpected surprises! The chalets have a beautiful romantic decor. Each of the chalets have a cosy fireplace (first basket of wood supplied) and are well equipped. Sonja's welcome was warm and inviting and went out of her way to even offering to collect us from our weeding venue. We explored the pristine stable and enjoyed interacting with the magnificent horses. Trout fishing was fun with the lovable cat in tow surrounded by unsurpassed beauty of the mountains. We look forward to return and spend more time savouring this gem of Franschoek.

My husband & I stayed in Heart of the Horse, the 2-person cottage on Courchevel Farm. The cottage itself is charming with lovely views from every room. Our favourite rooms are the bedroom (huge bed) and bathroom (huge room with lovely victorian bath). This year we spent 2 weeks at Courchevel; last year we spent 5 weeks.
Lovely walks on the farm, and many cool-offs in the plunge pool, newly built at the cottages - a brilliant addition for the hot summer.
Our 3 wishes to the fairies, were for the wind to blow less (or that the porch to be more wind-protected), more shade for the verandah (to enjoy the outside fireplace and seating more), and for fly screens on the windows (horses bring an abundance of flies).
It was such a treat to experience a very different kind of lifestyle, a farm life surrounded by mountains, vineyards and horses (very different to our fishing village in Kommetjie). Thank you Sonja for accommodating us for our 2 long stays, we hope to visit you again some day.

We stayed in Courchevel and Heart of the Horse.

The location is close to the centre of town but away from it enough to feel like you in the country side. There are horse stables where you can see many horse, during the day they are roaming outside your house. There is also a trout dam for the men to fish. Everything has been thought of, wood is provided, tea and coffee facility, Doom (spray to kill insects) towels, shower gel, hairdryer, washing up liquid, salt, pepper, oven, stove, wine with a honesty jar etc. There is a pool and they give you pool towels in a cute little bucket.

The owner is also very friendly and just a walk away if you need anything.
The rooms are large and have wall heaters and the blankets keep you super warm too on the cold nights. There was indoor fire places in both houses.

The decor in every room is so well thought out and unique. You can see a view over the whole town and the forest behind you. There is no TV so there is a lot of peace and quiet, we brought board games with us but hardly needed it as there is so much to do on the farm and in town.
Cant wait to go back.

Room tip: All rooms are great, you cant go wrong

Cosy cottage with quaint equestrian decor. Beautiful view of Franschhoek and surrounding mountains. Lovely atmosphere with horses grazing nearby in well kept paddocks. Will definitely recommend staying there!
