My husband and I stayed at Mont Rochelle this summer for a few nights during our honeymoon. It was an amazing stay! The estate is beautiful, and we had a great view from our room (we stayed in the Pinotage suite-highly recommend). The service and the staff is really what stood out to us. We were greeted upon arrival at our car door window. We were told to leave our bags in the car and come get out of the cold. They promptly handed us a glass of wine when we entered. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating- we made a lot of friends! They have a shuttle that will take you into town, which is very convenient. We also walked downtown from the estate one day (about a fifteen minute walk). We really could not have asked for a better stay! Highly recommend!!

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon.

This hotel is excellent. The rooms and grounds are very well kept with a gorgeous scent of lavender permeating from the gardens.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel very at home. Bloem the cat was very friendly and we liked to sit with her when she was around! The service from all the staff (human and cat) was exceptional.

Our room was great, especially the bathroom with underfloor heating and Monty the rubber duck!

We took advantage of the complimentary wine tasting over at the Country Kitchen. Our waiter told us all about the wines (3 each so we went for a selection of whites and reds) and was very knowledgeable, even making suggestions about other vineyards in the area. We also had a light lunch of soup and baked cheese - delicious!

We ate in the hotel’s restaurant twice on an evening - both times we really enjoyed it. The breakfast was also very good.

On our final morning we had an early pick up so were provided with a breakfast to go. As our transport was running late, the night manager kindly plated this up for us while we were waiting. We certainly did not go hungry! Bloem was also on hand to ensure we had had a pleasant stay!

What a great hotel - we would highly recommend it.

We were all delighted to hear that you thought the service was ‘exceptional’ and that you enjoyed spending time with the whole team – including the queen herself, Blom! She loved meeting you and ensuring you had a pleasant stay, and wanted to say thank you for all the cuddles along the way. Us human-folk were particularly pleased to hear how much you enjoyed the food and wines while you were with us; indulging in some baked cheese is one of our favourite past times. Mont Rochelle is a 5 star hotel in every way. The location is to die for. The staff are so attentive and friendly and a real credit to the hotel in affording some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced. We stayed in the Merlot suite which was extremely comfortable and well appointed. James Basson is a wonderful host and his team will ensure all your needs are attended to. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we look forward to visiting with you in the future again.

Mont Rochelle is such an amazing place to stay. The staff are all so professional, yet friendly, and looked after our every need. We were delighted to find that our room had been upgraded; the facilities were luxurious and the views stunning. Arriving in the torrential rain, after a rather hair-raising drive through the Franschhoek Pass, we were welcomed so warmly, with a roaring fire and a superb glass of wine - this certainly set the scene for our stay. The meals, especially breakfast, were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the Franschhoek Tram wine tasting experience along with the complimentary tasting session at The Country Kitchen. Nothing was too much trouble for everyone who works at Mont Rochelle and we can't thank them enough for making the end of our South African adventure so special.

There’s not much we enjoy more than fine wine, so your comparison is the biggest compliment I think we could ever wish for. Mont Rochelle
5 stars In every way. A stunning setting with every little luxury attended to. There is a pool, gym, tennis courts, croquet lawn, lifesize chess sets...,etc! We were upgraded to a superior room overlooking the gardens. Fantastic staff , a special mention to Gabriel who looked after us so well. Very comfortable rooms with a fully stocked mini bar free of charge and ample wines from the surrounding vineyard.
Tasting at the vineyard is also complimentary for guests. The miko restaurant is outstanding and very reasonably priced.
We had to leave early the following morning and they provided us with an outstanding packed breakfast- pastries , fruits, cold cuts, sandwiches, juice AND a breakfast burrito!! Will definitely return
