Description: There is nothing like a familiar welcome to create an atmosphere of warmth, a sense of coming home and of good things prepared with love. The Lust Bistro & Bakery enfolds you with that feeling of belonging that fills up your senses with satisfaction. Cradled in the folds of the peaceful Vrede en Lust wine estate in Franschhoek, the Lust Bistro & Bakery entices one's surroundings with the tantalising aromas of freshly baked artisan bread - imaginative creations of Jean Pierre Smith, patron chef and baker extraordinaire whose lunchtime chalkboard presents a constantly intriguing invitation of discovery. From breakfast to late lunch, there is something for everyone: salads crisp with dew-fresh seasonal garden produce, cakes just out the oven, cheese and charcuterie platters boasting South African specialities, mouthwatering chicken and beef dishes all exquisitely presented. The Lust Bistro & Bakery is definitely an experience you do not want to miss.

This is one of the lunch places where you are not expected to eat three courses. The chicken caesar salad was fantastic, and they now also offer a wide selection of sandwiches, which is sometimes all you need. Lunch is served until 16h00, prefect for a late lunch. Most places close their kitchen at 14h30 or 15h00. Great wines by the glass.

A wonderful lunch experience, personal attention from Sharlene... we had the afternoon specials (Perri Perri Chicken and Seared Tuna & Avo)... tasty indeed. Keep it up!

Amazing food. Slow but great service. Stunning cakes. Can build your own sandwich and pizza. Lovely atmosphere. Christmas cakes available to purchase was a plus and the bacon jam is literally the best thing in the world. Would recommend this bistro to anyone. Can't wait to go back.

Yummy thick milkshakes and we had a chance to make our own pizzas. Very friendly staff, we went to see Vrede n en Lust venue as a potential wedding venue and ended up having lunch there.

On a whim we decided to go to a wine farm for a late lunch and Vrede and Lust were one of many that could actually accommodate us. The venue is lovely and the food that we ordered was great but the service is not up to standard. I got up so many times to ask for various things that I joked with my husband that I should be getting the tip!
It was a very hot day but they hadn't thought to switch on the mist outside which was a pity.

Hi Sue, thanks so much for your visit and the compliments on the ambience and the food. Apologies for your waiter not being on top of his/her game on the day. Service standards are one of the most important considerations to us. Unfortunately the misting system works on water - and with the dam levels being what they are - the Western Cape is on water restrictions. Hope to see you back again soon - we also have indoor seating available.
