We went on a Saturday night(booking recommended) and were given a table on the terrace which was a great place to be to see the fountains and stonemasonary which exuded peace and a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the evening. The menu is so different in as much that you order small plate(assietes) to enjoy, anything upto 5 plates or more which you do at your convenience and you get your courses one at a time with a good break in between. The food was of a high standard and presented very nicely with good service by Nate, The food is not huge portions as they are basically a starter which is indicated in the price make sure you read the menu, my wife seemed to get twice the amount I did. Would I visit again most definitely

Very pleasant quiet location in a walled-garden setting out of the centre of Franschhoek. The menu suggests picking 3 to 5 dishes to share between two people. We tried octopus (not to our taste) crayfish, strip beef and a chicken and prawn curry. All dishes well-presented and service was excellent.I had a nice glass of red wine and the whole experience was very relaxed.

Overpriced, fussy and pretentious.
Service from Nato was attentive and pleasant. Lot of fairly aggressive up selling from others. Food was frankly uninspiring with mean portions. We left disappointed and hungry. We really don't mind high end meals but this didn't earn the price tag in our opinion.

Last visited Monneaux 2 years ago. I enjoyed it very much then and even more on this visit. I was staying at the French Country House for 6 nights and had the pleasure of eating here on 4 evenings.

Things have changed! The restaurant itself has had a makeover, with the installation of an end-to-end glass frontage, giving a really splendid view of the courtyard and outside dining area. This has transformed the feel into something bright and modern - a really amazing transformation!

The other major change has been the complete revision of the menu. There is still a full tasting menu for those with a large appetite, but the innovation is the introduction of petites assiettes, of which one might try 3 or 4 at any particular meal. Over 4 nights, my wife and I tried the majority of these dishes. They were all extremely tasty and beautifully presented. A brilliant idea brought into reality by some excellent cooking. Wow!

What has not changed is the standard of service from the staff, which was outstanding.

Well done , Monneaux and chef Leigh!

We spent 3 nights at Franschhoek Country House Hotel and decided to eat in on our last night. We were very pleased that we did as the meal was exceptionally good. Our table was beautifully decorated with rose petals and our meal which we ordered from their their small dish or tapas menu was delicious with a blend of different flavours, the service was nicely paced and we found that three dishes each was just right. We have found the food and wine in South Africa to be a highlight of our trip and this restaurant lived up to the high standards that we have come to expect. We would recommend it to anyone.
