What an awesome French Restaurant located right across the Courthouse in downtown Somerville!
We came here on the recommendations of the friendly Judge in the Courthouse when I served on the jury of a case. After the case was all done, he came and talked to all of us jurors in a very friendly and relaxed manner. After he thanked us for serving, he gave us a little history of Somerville, and even made restaurant suggestions. Wow, that was nice. Listening to him, we made our rounds of the historical spots and stopped in here for dinner on the weekend.
We were greeted warmly, and then led to the cozy dining room at the back. Looking around we noticed the moody and romantic atmosphere of the place. There were lots of signed photos of celebrities on the walls. And, there were candles, flowers and sparkling glasses on the tables for wine and water.
We started off with a cocktail called “Nothin-Nothin” for me and a glass of Sophie’s Gruner Veltliner (a White Wine from Austria) for my husband to have with the starter bread. We skipped the Appetizer, since our dishes came with the Arugula Salad (topped with Pistachios, Fried Brie and Artichokes) anyway, and ordered the Branzino for my husband and the Maryland Crab cake for me. We finished off the meal with a shared Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding and Cognac Ice Cream for dessert. Oh my Goodness! Everything was so delicious, and so fresh. Our server mentioned that they get all the salad materials from their very own roof garden.
The portions were very generous, the food is plated appetizingly and our service from Erik was very polite and attentive. It was our first time here, and everyone from the host to the servers made us feel very welcomed.
The place is expensive, but the awesome food made it worth the visit. This was one of the best French meals we had ever had, and we would certainly return with the rest of the family, or for a special occasion.
