Although our experience was positive, there are some items that need mentioning. This inn is old and the outdoor appearence needs some work, especially painting. Each room has a small deck with a weathered chair which should be replaced. The pool was less than impressive but adequate for children. On the positive side was the great service. If I had a problem, it was tended to immediately. The room charge was a bit high in relation to the accommodation. If you are on a budget, go elsewhere.

I have stayed at many residence inn properties and relative to other ones, this one is in need of some attention and renovation. Carpet looked older and the bathroom had a good amount of water damage that looked like a slap and dash cover up. Beds were comfortable and clean though. The free breakfast was decent, not great, as always but it's what makes the place a decent value. This hotel is close to Ocean City's boardwalk, which the kids love. It is expensive relative to other Somers Point hotels but the other ones are all the "seedy motel" look, so if that is not your cup of tea, the residence inn is your best bet despite its flaws.

This hotel is in a great location to Ocean City NJ. It has many ammenities and very nice, professional young staff. Many families have discovered this hotel because it has rooms with kitchens & livingrooms which are very convenient while staying at the beach. Due to the popularity, it seems housekeeping and maintenance have not been able to keep up with the good cleaning or proper care this property deserves. The outside is kept impeccably clean; but there are issues here and there that need to be taken care of such as cracks in cement, paint on railings and painting on doors. Inside the rooms I found cobb webs and dust in high areas of the room (next to mirrors and on top of vanity light fixtures) so this type of deep cleaning has not been done for months in the hotel rooms. The 2 bedroom suite I rented needed the wall paper in the upstairs bedroom to be re-done; the paper was literally falling off the walls and there was missing grout in the tub tile area. The hvac register cover in the bathroom also needed to be re-painted. The doors and jams needed to be cleaned because it was evident this has never been done. You can see the dirty handprint marks around door handles and jams. Also there was significant dust in the corners of all the seams of the wall-to-wall rug. The murphy bed headboard was broken and needed to be fixed with a metal dowel which is a pretty easy fix. The beds are clean and comfortable. The kitchen is pretty clean and the staff runs anything that is left in the dishwasher - which is very accomodating. This hotel offers a complimentary breakfast & a light dinner selection each night. Because of the number of guests, these meals are a total cattle drive. The staff has a hard time keeping up with the food demands of the guests during peak hours. The buffet area was not well thought out to handle this size crowd because there are not enough outlets for electric appliances and certain food stations are in bad high traffic areas. A space planner/designer needs to be brought in to re-work this area. This Residence Inn may need to re-think what they offer during summer month family guest season as opposed to Sept-May business guest times. They may need to offer more easier served/prepared items during the summer and substitute the dinner service for an appetizer hour. There are families that were camped out eating serving after servings of a full meal during the 'lite dinner' time. There were many upset guests because of rude people that were greedy when it came to sharing what was offered. Why put your staff through that or your customers? The same was true of the breakfast time. My group ended up leaving the hotel and avoiding a stop at the lobby during breakfast or dinner period because of the crazy rude crowds.

Room Tip: Ask to see the rooms first. Rooms in the front have difficult parking situation

Hotel is in need of some repairs, but was clean and neat. Breakfast buffet was in need of more types of food as it was not as expected like other marriotts we have stayed at. Light meal at dinnertime was OK, but people lined up for the free food and we opted to go out. We would stay again if we have to bring our dog with us, but otherwise we would have opted for a hotel right in Ocean city.

Little pricey for Somers Point but the room was very big and very clean. Breakfast could be better . Hotel certainly can use a make over. Getting over the bridge on Saturdays can be murder if not planned well. There are much better places to stay in OC.
