Lee"s is one of the few surviving clones (franchises, originally) of the original Lee's Hoagies which was on Cheltenham Ave. near 19th Street on the Northwestern border of Phila. for over 50 years. Good Amoroso rolls and top quality cold cuts are used. A secret salad dressing that dresses the lettuce tomato and onions on the hoagies further distinguishes Lee's Hoagies from their competitors. The shop's interior is bare bones no frills - true to the original place on Cheltenham Ave. The basic Steak sandwich comes with lettuce and tomato so it's really a steak hoagie. Optional fried onions are a must. But you can also get the more common pizza steak with fried onions, tomato sauce and cheese. The hoagies come in all the classic original Lee's versions - now over 60 years old. Chopped cherry peppers are available for the asking. A fave hoagie of mine is the Deluxe which is ham and turkey. A basic selection of Tastykakes, sodas and potato chips rounds out your Philly original dining experience.
