This one time restaurant at the corner of 24 and Prospect Street in Madison has a long stored reputation. We happened to dine with family members on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is easily accessed with ample parking in the rear and street side. On busy evenings, such as Friday or Saturday's reservations are a must. Service is very good, however, slow. There is no rushing here. Which is fine. Soft lighting and live piano on Friday nights make for a lovely evening. The menu features long time Italian favorites and one of our party exclaimed that the rigatoni with baccala was exactly like his late Mother's. What a compliment. The prices I felt were in keeping with the current rate, as there is something for everyone's taste, whether it pasta, fish, veal, lamb or chicken dishes. Our server has been a fixture here forever, and had a wide knowledge of all the meals and the way that they were presented. Full service bar, it made for a nice evening and a taste of the old country.

Very well appointed and classy ambience. Impressive atmosphere.
Overpriced and pretentious for average food. Service classy but slow.

This is the restaurant we went to after getting engaged right in the town of Madison. The food was great and the service was great. We went back after we were married, and the food was great again but the service left something to be desired. Our waiter made us feel like we were bothering him.

This quiet, beautiful restaurant was the perfect choice for Friday night date night with my husband. We enjoyed the piano music while having cocktails before dinner. The baked clams and sausage appetizer was large enough to share and it was delicious. The shrimp fra diavlo was awesome as was the sea scallops over risotto. The fresh bread on the table was a nicety that you don't always see. Save room for dessert, the tiramisu is outstanding!

Oh NJ with your BYOB restaurants. When traveling for work and putting on an event, all you want at the end of the day is a good meal and a cocktail. L'Allegria fit the bill and we were all pleasantly surprised at the amazing quality of the food. I was expecting NJ Italian, but what we got were light, flavorful, inventive and absolutely delicious meals. And this is from someone who doesn't eat any grains or carbs... I had many choices and felt completely satisfied. And our server (forgot her name) was AWESOME.
