“Quirky place, convenient to city”

We had to wait 45 minutes for our host to turn up with the keys, which was not very professional. As he opened the door, there was a cat inside waiting to greet us. That may be very nice for some guests, but I'm allergic. Our host assured us he would take the cat away with him, but of course the cat hair is still all over the house, so I had to take allergy medicine the whole time I stayed.
The listing said there were 3 bedrooms. I'm afraid they used the term 'bedroom' very loosely; there is actually only one bedroom, with a bunk bed, which has a full size bed on bottom, twin size on top. We're guessing a second area which they may have classified as a bedroom is an enclosed loft space downstairs, which is reached by a very steep ladder. This is in actuality a child's play space, with no room for an adult to stand up. It's kind of claustrophobic up there, with only a foam full size mattress on the floor. Other than that, the downstairs area has a sofa bed, but it's open to the garage end of the basement, where there are motorcycles and tools stored, so the air was not fresh for sleeping down there. Upstairs in the living room, there's a twin size day bed, and a couple more sofas.
This place may be a fun party space for a big group of friends who want to be near the city (light rail station is right across the street), but it doesn't work for 3 couples looking for separate sleeping areas. The description is kind of misleading, in saying there are 3 bedrooms.
The kitchen is very well equipped, with a big commercial stove. The bathrooms are both clean enough and fairly modern.
If you're looking for a clean, impersonal hotel kind of place, this is definitely not it. But if you want a lived-in, arty, interesting space near the city, then maybe this is for you.
