You better know your kielbasi. They have about 1/2 dozen different kinds, plus tons of other homemade sausage. Anything you're looking for in east europe cooking is here, including meats, deli/cold cuts, packaged imported foods, etc.
Enough of the staff speak English so you can get advice, but try not to go on Friday evenings or Saturday, when they get very jammed, unless you know what you are doing.
A terrific ethnic experience.

We come here for the take-out lunch counter. They give generous portions, and we have never felt short-served. The ladies behind the counter are nice and patient. On one part of the store, they have cold cuts and all sorts of meat products. Ample parking outside although Piast is located in a not so large mall area.

great food even though portions got smaller and more expansive over the years. Best cold cuts and kielbasa in NJ. Worth dealing with bad service and long lines.

As soon as you walk in, the aroma of the kielbasa is intoxicating. You get made instantly hungry. It is a bit surprising when you go to the deli counter and everyone does speak Polish at first, but they do speak English. Don't be intimidated. Never had an issue with anything purchased here. The quality is top notch. They have prepared food as well at very reasonable prices. And the variety of pierogi they offer is awesome. And don't forget to stop in at the bakery at the end of the strip mall. Authentic Polish pastries.

If you are looking for old world style food, this is a place I would strongly recommend. The food is fresh; the varieties wide; the price is right; and if you need a variety of high quality offerings for a special occasion, this is a strong recommend! We had used Piast for a large Eastern European festival - celebrating our family heritage. Piast delivered on its promise - and our 75+ guests were highly pleased with the offerings. Definitely worth the visit - no disappointments! We plan on using again! (We live close to 50 miles away, and there are plenty of companies that we could buy from - but Piast is worth the extra distance to get the quality of food, offerings, and great pricing that they offer!)...the kielbasa offerings are simply awesome! This is NOT a place for dining - so do not come expecting a restaurant atmosphere. It is a deli with great offerings. It is not fancy, but that is not what you are coming for - it's the FOOD! And they have daily offerings for take-out! YUM! )
