The person who booked our dinner reservation for four guests provided NO advance warnings. As we arrived at The National Hotel Restaurant, we learned about Frenchtown's "Riverfest" Sunday. What do we find but a country & western band straddling the doorway between the bar area and the restaurant. One to three singers, with over-amped speakers -- to say nothing of lousy singing -- made it well neigh impossible to even speak with the waiter, much less with our dining companions. Three of our group are local residents, and not new to The National. The decibel count in the restaurant had to be in the 140 - 180 range, potentially audio -injurious! No wonder we had headaches even before we had a drink. We all vowed to never again step foot in The National. What were the owners thinking when they made a business decision to allow this band in their place of business?
I ordered a dining "wrap". The wrap was pre-cooked in deep fat, with the stuffing inserted after the fact. Tasteless. But who could taste anything in the din?
