Find all your Japanese goods, tools, ingredients here and after your done shopping go get some lunch or dinner. They have fresh fish for sushi and sushi grade. The packages of prepared food isn't bad either.

Get some Sun Noodle Ramen kits as they are like having a ramen shop in your kitchen.

Their bakery is of note with the strawberry shortcake as one of the better ones. The white bread is also very fatty and delicious, but only lasts 3 days.

They have a lot of food stalls with good ramen, bento boxes, and tempura. Matcha also has black sesame soft serve that is unique and worth a try. They are cash only so if you don't want to get ripped off from the atm then bring some.

Lastly, try to avoid weekends if you can. Parking isn't terrible as you can get a spot in 10 mins. But the lines inside can get hectic. If you go on a weekday it is like a summer breeze with 2 min lines in the grocery store and food stalls.

Mitsuwa is a combination of a Japanese supermarket, food court and pastry stores. Basically it's paradise for people with a Japanese craving (major Korean and Chinese ingredients are also available).
In the supermarket there is basically anything you can think of (Natto, miso paste, ikura, snacks, vegetables, sake, etc.).
Among the small takeout places you can find a ramen shop, a tonkatsu (pork cutlet) shop, a tempura shop, a bakery, an ice cream parlor and more. You and your friends can grab anything you like in different stores and eat them together at the shared tables.
Good place for shopping and eating.

Mitsuwa is a great place to fell in Japan even if you are in NJ... Supermarket/stores + food hall. It is closer you will get to JP. Take money as most of restaurants only accept cash (unbelievable we are in 2016.....)

We love coming here! Make sure you bring your appetite and lots of cash since most of the shops are cash only. We have eaten at most of the restaurants. I have never ordered anything that I didn't like. The restaurant is good too, but I wouldn't necessarily buy much here as there are plenty of other Asian markets near us that sell things at a much lower price. I think the area that Mitsuwa is in and the clients they can tend to get is why some of their prices are higher. But overall, great place as always. Enjoy!

Mitsuwa is one of my favorite places that I go to almost every weekend. To say it's just a supermarket doesn't do it enough justice. Yes, there is a Japanese supermarket, but there are other Japanese shops and food spots there, and there are periodically festivities that keep it fun and festive. The Santouka ramen place inside is always packed with long lines of people waiting for their ramen, which is one of the best around. To find little Japan packed in one place makes it a place of wonder and pleasure.
