My wife and had to be in Dover, NJ for an afternoon event with friends in that area. We thought it would be nice to have dinner as a group and they asked us what cuisine we would like. I said you pick and and they picked Hunan Taste. They said it was highly rated and a unique building and atmosphere as well. They were right.
The building looks like something taken out of China (though I have never been) and set down in Denville. When you walk in you realize immediately you are not in a common, everyday Chinese restaurant. This is what I call "old school" Chinese restaurant decor. Ornate ceilings and fish tank walls. Linen table cloths and nicely dressed waiters. But, surprisingly, the menu items, of which there are many, are not overly expensive.
We all ordered what we wanted and then we also shared since the portions are a decent size. My wife and I started out with the soft shell crab appetizer. It was golden brown and delicious. Her entree was eggplant in garlic sauce which was excellent. My entree was shrimp and lobster sauce. The shrimp were very large and the sauce just right. Our friends enjoyed their entrees as well. There was a lot left overs and since we were staying in a hotel that night our friends took them home to enjoy the next day.
The restaurant does have a small bar if you get there early and want a drink.
