Spacious bar area, and seating. Bartender young and energetic, friendly and great service. a few sidewalk tables, great corner location on Main St. Bordentown. Sampled three appetizers, zucchini, buffalo chicken tenders and eggplant. All good. Recommend for casual dining.

Bordentown is starting to develop a reputation for decent restaurants that are not chains and that have unique menus. Jesters has been around for 17 years, so maybe they started the trend. I don't know. Bordentown is not up to the number of good restaurants in Haddonfield, Collingswood, Princeton, Pennington, or Lambertville, but the town is up and coming. A unique feature of restaurants along the main street (Farnsworth Avenue), including this one, is that many of them have huge doors or windows they can open when the weather is good which creates an interesting indoor/outdoor dining experience.

This was a solo trip, so I don't have a lot of dishes to recommend. I will update after my next visit with more people.

I was apparently the first lunch patron at about 11:45, but others soon came. The waiter said their lunch crowd usually came later, around 1:00. I ordered the Bonaparte Burger which was described as an Angus beef burger with thinly sliced steak, and provolone. What came out was more than I expected and better than the description on the menu. The burger was not too large (many places serve burgers that I just can't finish), the thin steak slices were tender and falling apart, the cheese was nicely melted and it was all served on a delicious ciabatta roll. The burger had been placed in a roll because it was nestled in a delicious beef broth or jus. Surprising, but the broth made everything tender and tasty. Unique and tasty. Although not mentioned on the menu (I think), the burger came with a large order of parmesan french fries. The waiter offered fresh rolls, which I accepted just to taste them even though the burger would be on a roll. Bread is always a good test of a restaurant. This bread was excellent and hot out of the oven. I don't know if it was produced there or brought in and heated. In any case, it was excellent.

Service by Blaine was excellent.

The only downsides -- and the reason the rating is a four and not a five -- were relatively minor: the large menu was printed on some kind of heavy card stock, but it was bent, wrinkled, stained, and damaged from wet glasses (maybe?); the TV inside was way too loud, so I sat outside, but the sound still came through the open windows; many people walking by are smoking, so that is an issue the restaurant can't control.

Worth a second and maybe a third visit.

Food was good, wait staff exceptional. We came to see a band down the block and we didn't have a reservation, they did everything they could to accommodate us and have us out on time! Definitely go eat here.
