We took a ride to see about availability for booking a site for Labor Day Weekend. We wanted a 3 night stay. Friday to Monday (Labor Day). They told us it was a 4 NIGHT minimum. NO ONE gets off the Thursday before or the Tuesday after Labor Day. They told us, SORRY, come back a week before and if it isn't booked up, maybe we can then do the 3 night stay. GREED is an understatement. There were sites available. They have become very greedy over the past few years. That is BS. BAD BUSINESS!!! We ended up taking a short ride to a different camp and booked there with a 3 NIGHT minimum.

Room Tip: TIP: if you are trying to book for Labor Day Weekend, ALL OTHER camps around the area are booking a 3 NIGHT minimum, NOT 4.

If you live in South-Central NJ, there is no better place to rent a canoe or kayak for a dreamy day on the water. Double-Trouble State Park on Cedar Creek is an ideal spot to paddle your cares away. Been back several times, and never had a problem. You park your car at the campground, and they take you in a van with boats in tow, to the launch areas upstream. We prefer the longer trip, (about 4 hours), from Ore Pond, but the shorter run is fun as well. The gently running stream takes you to a time and place which is hard to find in today's busy, commercial world. The easy paddle brings you into quiet areas, with overhanging trees and woods all around. Even though civilization is never far away, you rarely hear or see the noise and bustle of the surrounding neighborhoods. Pull over for a picnic lunch on a little hidden beach and swim in the cool, running water. The stream has a few natural impediments, such as fallen trees and low-hanging branches, but half the fun is navigating the bends and curves of this beautiful, unspoiled little waterway. Don't listen to the hysterics of unprepared and childish people who say it's dangerous. Your average backyard pool presents more opportunities to injure yourself than this rustic boating spot, right in the middle of crowded NJ. If you've never handled a kayak or canoe, get some practice first, but you certainly don't have to be an expert. Even the smallest kids will get a kick out of it !!! THIS IS NOT THE COLORADO RIVER RAPIDS !!! You couldn't find an easier boating experience anywhere in Jersey. I've kayaked in Cape May and Brick, and they don't compare. Went with my daughter on Father's Day and had a great afternoon. Plan to go back many more times. Staff is helpful and professional. Best canoe run in NJ !!!!!!!

My husband and I spent the long Fourth of July weekend at Cedar Creek Campground and we loved it! This is the third campground in the New Jersey Pine Barrens that we have tried and all three have been good (Baker's Acres has a heated pool open late, and Timberline Lake is right in the area where we like to hike, bike, canoe and four-wheel) but I think Cedar Creek might be my favorite. The pool is huge and 12-feet deep at its deepest, which is wonderful. You can rent canoes and kayaks right there for excursions on Cedar Creek. We did the 17.9 mile trip in a canoe. It was a bit strenuous because the creek is very curvy and the current is strong, but there are beautiful spots to pull over and swim. We would definitely do it again. We had a tent site in the very sunny B section, where the sites are kind of close together but we found we didn't mind this at all. Shadier sites for RVs and tents can be found in other areas. The camp store was incredibly well-stocked and there's a café with pizza, wings, etc. And coffee in the morning. Shower and rest room facilities were clean and there's a whole building for laundry. The rec room has a lending library. Somewhere there's a beach on Barnegat Bay nearby but we never found it but it's a short drive to Seaside Heights. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!

Our first visit. The front office team were friendly and welcoming. We stayed at the lower camping area, which is available for off season campers. The facilities are clean and there is a 24 hour laundry. We walked every morning and were impressed with the variety of shaded sites in the higher area of the campground. There are numerous cabins available for rent. There is a bike/walk path outside the campground that lead to J Dudley park. Take a walk across the road and check out the marina and waterfront properties, a lovely level walk. The campground is only 25 minutes away from Island Beach State Park! They have a large pool and nice playground area for kids. The lower camping area is crowded on weekends. The campground is central to everything so if you love camping this is the place to go!
