Description: Everyday our team of chefs work with our seafood buyers to source the best quality seafood. Our standards of excellence start with the selection of the top of the catch each day and often our daily specials are sourced from local fisherman who know where to send the best fish of the day. We go to such lengths to secure the freshest seafood for one reason – our high standards of excellence demand that every ingredient we use is the best. Although we can tell you how fresh our seafood is, the only way to really know is to taste it.

Spectacularly fresh clams and great lobster rolls. Cold beer, friendly staff with a nice view, salt hills excluded.

We arrived for a late night dinner and sat at the bar. The the food was good as usual but the waitress/bartender seemed not to care about her customers. She seemed more concerned about getting her side work done than providing service. We were never asked how our meal was, or if we wanted another drink, or if we cared for dessert. We expected more from what we think is a wonderful restaurant. I'm not sure if we will return. When we spend close to $100 on dinner we would like to receive good service along with a nice meal. We left extremely disappointed, especially since we drove from Connecticut to patronize one of our favorite restaurants.

Hi Lon,
First, we thank you for making the trip to dine with us, we appreciate our customers and never want them to feel as though they arnen't our first priority. We never want our guests to leave dissapointed, so we're saddened to hear about this. We will be sure to have a conversation with our team about the importance of providing great service no matter what time of the evening. We do hope you accept our apology, and we hope you will return so we can make things right.

This was our first stop on our New England seafood trip. Great bread, chowder and lobster served on the waterfront.

After a great first meal at Surf during our Summer 2017 trip to Portsmouth we had to make a return visit this past August. There seems to always be a wait to get in to this place (no reservations) but you can roam the surrounding streets to kill time and the wait hasn't been terrible on either of our visits and the food definitely makes it worth it. Everything we've tried at Surf has been good, but if you're going to visit you must try the warm buttered lobster sushi roll - it is to die for! If you're a fan of oysters and shots,I would also highly recommend the oyster shooters. Honestly, from our experience so far, no matter what you order you won't likely be disappointed in the taste.

Always go to this restaurant when we are in Portsmouth. Went for dinner and I had the steamed lobster and my husband had the lemon haddock and both were delicious. Went back the next day for a light lunch and my husband had sushi and I had the chorizo braised mussels and both were perfect. Fabulous restaurant.
