While the primary location is being renovated, they have a very cool little storefront on Main Street with really cool exhibits that change frequently. Check it out

unable to access due to construction. There was supposed to be an event here, but there was no way to get in and no signage indicating where the event had been moved to.

The Hood is to the left and behind the Hopkins Centre for the Arts. Put aside a leisurely hour - or two - they have some fine and fascinating pieces all beautifully displayed and illuminated. Each piece has a well written information card beside it.

This is a nice small museum with a nice variety of collections. It is currently closed for a $50 million renovation and expansion until winter 2019. According to 'the Dartmouth' 'planned changes include expanded gallery space and teaching facilities, a new multi-purpose event space and a new white and beige brick façade for the building. '
In downtown hanover, where the old Amidon jewelers was located, there is now the 'Hood Downtown'. This is a small space showcasing modern art, with free admission. Currently it is showing an exhibit of contemporary French photographer Laetitia Soulier's work. It is quite an interesting exhibit our whole family enjoyed. (we have a 7 and 10 year old). Combining photography, dioramas, and sculpture, her art is inspired by fractal geometry. Just as interesting as the art pieces are the displays presenting how she made some of her creations.

Have loved the Hood Museum of Art from its early beginning and special exhibitions on diverse topics, such as The Age of the Marvelous, Native American Art at Dartmouth, and Crossing Cultures, depicting Australian Aborigine Art from the Owen and Wagner Collection. Permanent art usually on display includes fine examples of Assyrian, Greek, Egyptian, and Persian art, as well as more modern works by Frank Stella and Frank Rauschenberg, Unfortunately, the Hood is now closed for major renovations, but the curators will be using temporary space at Hood Downtown, 53 Main Street, Hanover, NH, for their current exhibits. The inaugural exhibition will feature the work of contemporary French photographer Laetitia Soulier from September 16, 2016 until December 11, 2016.
