Rates are great. Rooms are nothing special. If you're in the annex, it can be a long walk to the restaurants, casino, etc., but it's really convenient for parking. You get to park very close to your room, not out in the vast parking lot out front. If they tell you you're in the annex, ask if it's on the loading dock side of he building or close to the loading dock. It can get quite noisy, very early. They do not adhere to the posted times for the dock operation.

We have stayed at the Peppermill a few times while visiting relatives. The first time we stayed there, we had a standard room which adjoined our relatives' room. The standard room had two queen beds, a sitting area, and a desk. The decor was quite dark and a little frightening to our small kids. The bathroom was a little dated but fully functional and clean. The second time we stayed, our relatives were able to get us into the Safari Suite which was an amazing, two-story, extravagant suite which had numerous bathrooms, steam showers, a large jacuzzi, two wet bars, a big screen t.v., a pool table, dining area, two bedrooms lavishly decorated in the safari fashion, a life-sized model of a rhino and an elephant head. The only drawback was that there were dozens of light switches which were hard to keep track of. We couldn't figure out how to turn off the music in one of the bedrooms which was annoying. Also, the cd player did not work, and there was no dvd player. Overall, the service was quite good, and the people were friendly. The food was above average. The buffet is pretty standard. The Romanza had above-average Italian food but is dark. The White Orchid has a very romantic atmosphere and has pretty amazing food but is extremely expensive if you don't get "comp"ed.

This was a ski trip for my husband and I. We stayed at the Peppermill from 3/2/05 to 3/6/05. I have no real complaints. The hotel was okay, nothing terribly special. Rooms were a bit too dark for my tastes, not a big deal. One very nice suprise was the pool area. After several long days on the mountains (the skiing was fabulous!) we took advantage of the hot tub and heated pool.

We were very disappointed with the buffet. Not a great deal, I thought it was overpriced. The quality was just not there, and we had eaten there a couple of years ago, was much better.

Overall, decent place. Location was convenient, especially for us non-gamblers. Close to the airport, and easy access to the freeways.

I've stayed at the Peppermill twice, and was never disappointed. The rooms are nice, ours had a couch. Could do without the mini-bar fridge. The staff is very friendly. The BJ dealers ask your name, strike up conversations, and when dealers change they introduce you by name to the new dealer. Two dealers remembered me a year later. Very laid back. Nice daily comps with PepperMillions.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel. I have stayed in this hotel twice and have always had an wonderful experience. The price of rooms here is very competitive compared to other hotels in Reno. The hotel is divided into two sections--a large main building and a small motor lodge that is adjacent to the main building. During the first visit, we stayed in the motor lodge. The advantage to staying in the motor lodge is that it is possible to park directly in front of the room. The rooms in the motor lodge are $10 less per night than the rooms in the main hotel. However, the rooms in the motor lodge are a little dark (dark wood paneling). The second time we stayed in the main building because we were upgraded FOR FREE by a very nice front desk clerk. The rooms in the main building are nicer than the motor lodge rooms because they are much larger and have more bright light (bigger windows) and better views.
The hotel offers FREE valet parking. This is a great convenience--we simply drove right to the front of the hotel and handed our keys to the valet, who parked the car. When we wanted to retrieve the car, we gave the keys to the valet, who then brought the car directly to us. That way, we could stay inside the building when it was cold or raining.
The hotel offers a special to seniors who sign up for the frequent gambler card. It gives seniors a two-for-one coupon for the breakfast and lunch buffets during the week. People who are not seniors can use this coupon if they are accompanying a senior. Our excellent buffet breakfasts thus cost $4 per person instead of $8. The buffet facility is outstanding and features a very entertaining display of lights.
The casino offers free nightly entertainment (bands, etc.) and also has PENNY slots, something I had never seen before. It is thus possible to gamble very cheaply.
I have always had a great experience staying here and would definitely stay here again.
