We just moved to the area and literally came over from unpacking boxes and wanted to check out some neighborhood places. It was late and most places were closed, but Kaizen was open until 10 and we came in at 9 and they said no problem. Nice place. Great menu.
We ordered a number of items. Only 4 other folks in there. Let me just say up front that the food was incredible! We had ramen and pork belly and smoked salmon sashime and other items. We'll definitely be back.
But, the only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 5 stars is the service. We had a young girl. Literally zero eye contact. No personality. No conversation. Might as well have been talking to a robot. We had just started on our appetizers and she was already bringing 2nd courses. Now trying to eat appetizers and 2nd courses and she's bringing more. Table didn't have enough room! She's trying to take plates away that still had food on them that we were still eating from. No apologies. No nothing. We had to tell her to please slow down. She would just turn and walk away. She had places to go and things to do.
By 9:30 still 30 minutes to closing she's rushing us. Are you done? Are you done? Then the floor manager (very nice guy) comes over while we're still eating at wants us to close out our bill. Says no rush ,but he has to close out the register. Wait, I thought the restaurant closes at 10? It's only 9:30 and we're still eating! He says he has to close out the register. OK. Whatever. So...almost a 100 dollar meal out and done in 30 minutes.
We'll be back but c'mon. I'd be happy to give you 5 stars next time!
