Description: Just a few miles outside Truro & about 8 miles from St Mawes, deep in the beautiful countryside, you’ll find the Kings Head in the tiny hamlet of Ruan Lanihorne, this is a Country Pub with a warm welcome, great beers and an imaginative menu. Summer evenings on the Terrace, or in the sunken Beer Garden, winter time finds us with roaring log fires......why not come along and see for yourself..

I came across the Kings Head purely by chance using a well know online search service map. I specifically wanted accommodation in this area. Booking was completed with a simple phone call although please note there was a policy of a 2-night minimum stay in place.
The village of Ruan Lanihorne is of the beaten track and proved to be a wonderfully quiet getaway with superb hospitality. The old church just opposite the Kings Head is well worth a visit and I am sure you could walk for miles if you wished.
I suggest you try to grab one of the 3 parking spaces opposite the front entrance of the pub. There are additional spaces quite close by though and a “blast from the past” red phone box nearby.
The “Old world” charm greets you on entering the bar/restaurant area and the walls are adorned with a wide selection of local photography, all the work of one of the owners, Niki.
The charming creak of a few floorboards and treads on the stairs take you to the landing hosting the door to the accommodation. The guest room, called “The loft” for obvious reasons, is on 2 floors. The lower one containing a table (adorned with flowers and fresh fruit), sideboard with toaster, fresh bread, cereals, muesli, preserves and all you need to create a self-service breakfast and a good sized fridge stocked with bottled water, butter, yogurt and milk. You overlook the 3 parking spaces and a walled beer garden on the opposite side of the road.
Ascending the staircase to the upper floor there are shelves holding many objects that appear to be collected from trips abroad and a good selection of hard back books that would provide reading material for most tastes.
The bedroom/lounge is spacious, very well furnished and includes a comfortable king size bed, individual armchairs and leather sofa.
A door leads into the bathroom – again very well presented, fully tiled and even had Radox as well as soap, shampoo and conditioner in large dispenses so no fiddly tubes to contend with.
The Wi-Fi worked well all through the building although the TV service struggled with pixilation at times.
The restaurant is relaxing, comfortable and very well managed. Specials are listed in addition to the menu offering a wide choice of foods, styles and tastes The food quality is excellent and the service is friendly efficient and professional. It’s the first place I have been able to get Kummel in a long time. Thank you Niki, Andrew and the team for a superb stay!
A great place to relax and pamper yourself. Go on - you are worth it!!

On the 26/07/2018, we once again had the most delicious meal at the Kings Head in Ruan Lanihorne. The hospitality was as always top notch, the food as usual was incredible. An early booking with children went down a treat, they were kind and very accommodating! The waiting staff were lovely and very attentive. We will be back before the holiday is over! Thank you the Straker-Nesbit

A return visit was as enjoyable as before. Excellent food and a revised wine list, made for another great evening. Attentive service, and a warm friendly atmosphere. Good choice of local fish dishes, and the best steaks. Highly recommended.
