“Great location for Yellowstone. Good for a large family.”

This house is 10 minutes from the West park entrance and the small town of West Yellowstone that has restaurants, a few minor attractions, and small grocery stores. It was an hour drive to Old Faithful. The drive to West Thumb was 1:20.

The house was clean and generally well-maintained with only some minor "wear and tear."

The views were excellent with the deck, master and living room upstairs. Four of the bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are downstairs. The posted floor plan is accurate except that one of these bedrooms has 2 single beds rather than a queen.

The owner was honest and helpful. We communicated well via email.

The neighborhood is very small and peaceful with dirt roads just off the freeway. The house was quiet with no road noise. We could not hear the neighbors.

The WiFi was temperamental ranging from slowish (2 mbps) to painfully slow (< 1 mbps). I suspect slow internet may be the standard throughout the area as even the McDonalds internet was about 2 mbps.

“Beautiful, private cabin perfect for your Yellowstone vacation!”

I am a Trip Advisor addict and spend hours combing through reviews before I book a place to stay. While this is probably a huge waste of time, I enjoy it and I usually end up happy with the place I choose. Moose Crossing was no exception! We were travelling with 6 adults and my four children so I wanted to find a home rather than a hotel in West Yellowstone. I found this property on HomeAway then proceeded to research and book it on TripAdvisor. As soon as we walked in to the home I knew I had chosen well! It is large enough to accommodate a group of 8 without feeling like we were tripping all over each other yet felt cozy, as a cabin should.

Bedrooms: There are 5 bedrooms in this home - one large master on the main floor (upstairs since this is an "upside down" design) and four downstairs in two separate hallways. The bedding was clean and comfortable in all five. The master is beautiful and has a great window looking into the trees.

Bathrooms: There are 3 bathrooms. Two downstairs near the bedrooms and one in the master suite. All were very clean. The master bath is large and has a great jacuzzi tub which is nice after a long day in the park. The two downstairs have their own thermostat for the in floor heating which was great because I like a toasty bathroom while showering on a cold day. The master bath has a portable radiant heater which helped but still couldn't warm the room due to its size. Very minor issue - nothing to complain about! The bathrooms did have some toiletries but I would suggest bringing your own just in case they are not to your liking.

Living Areas: The top floor has a large family room, a smaller TV room, and a large kitchen. All are very open to the others. The large space is great for gathering the family. We played games in the family room (some are supplied but we brought our own as well) while my husband was able to watch the football game in peace in the TV room. The view from the family room is gorgeous - this cabin is above the others in this development so you have a great view! The kitchen has a large table which we fit very comfortably around. All appliances, dishes, etc are supplied and we used them every day cooking our own breakfasts and dinners. There is even a crock pot and blender. There are spices, paper towels, and napkins provided as well. The only thing we found it to be lacking was tinfoil and plastic wrap, two things we really could have used in the kitchen.

Location: The cabin is just outside West Yellowstone. I think it took us about 15 minutes to get to the west gate. The town has numerous restaurants, shops, grocery stores, etc. every thing you need is within about 10 minutes drive. Close enough to be convenient but far enough from town to be really peaceful! I don't think we could have found a better location.

A couple minor cons:
1. The cabin has wifi but when we arrived we found there was no power cord to the router. Not really a big deal for us, but you may want to be sure that has been fixed if you are dependent on the internet.
2. I was given two different amounts for what I would receive back from the deposit. I was refunded the lesser of the two amounts, a $50 difference.

I did email the owner about the issues above and never received a response. He was responsive before our stay though, and was very good to recommend fishing spots and grocery stores.

Overall: if you are looking for a large place to call home while you are visiting Yellowstone, you can't beat this cabin! It is a vacation rental so be prepared to clean up after yourself, and pay a cleaning fee as well. Not an issue if you know in advance, as we did. I highly suggest you visit the cabin at Moose Crossing!

This house was perfect. Less than 10 minutes from the west Yellowstone entrance, close to town, yet it had that out in the country feel. The view of the mountains were spectacular, as was the second story deck. We had 9 people in the house and there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. The house was very clean, had plenty of dishes and pots and pans to use, comfortable furniture and beds, and a nice gas grill for cook outs. The house was family friendly and inviting. We couldn't have asked for anything more out of a rental home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay at Moose Crossing. The house was very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Our multigenerational group of 10 fit perfectly into this 5 bedroom 3 bath house that is conveniently located near Yellowstone National Park.
