A lot turn over of staff , it appear he is hard to work for, don't ask to vary any item on the menu take or leave. The staff will not ask it appear they know better. A very typical small restaurant .

We ordered the taco omelette and the biscuits and gravy specials to share. Both were excellent, the wait staff was friendly and very efficient. The cafe is very, very clean.

Good stop for a burger and fries or sandwiches. Your usual small town cafe. Plus you can have a beer.

We ate at the Garden Cafe a couple of years ago and decided to return, primarily because it's one of the few places we have ever visited in the area that served fresh-squeezed orange juice. Besides that, we thought, the food was really good.

We were camping by the headwaters of the Missouri River, and met a man who was swimming (I think that water would be pretty cold in early June). He told us his name was Nick, he was born in Switzerland, and he is the owner of the Garden Cafe.

We talked a lot that evening but what impressed us most was his descriptions of how he cooks things. Almost everything is from scratch - and if it isn't - he doesn't raise a pig to get his own bacon - it is purchased locally. He does make his own sausage, his own quiches (with Gruyere cheese no less), and what he serves is a very pretty plate. We had breakfast, with orange juice, and it may have been the best breakfast on our little vacation.

We'll go back. It's worth it.

A basic cafe with counter and table service Can get alcohol. Big burger and fries, but nothing special. We were able to stay a couple of hours to talk on a Sat. Excellent malt and milkshake. Nice server.
