We were very pleased to find this campground after looking at 2 others in the area which were very unacceptable. We decided we'd have to stay at the hotel for the night, and then right behind the hotel was this pleasant little campground! It's kind of hidden, but worth seeking out. The bathroom is clean and well-lit, and it has wonderful showers. The sites have trees and the hookups are good. Recommended. Note: for the time being, the registration office is just inside the hotel. Call the phone number on the sign at the entrance to the campground and the owner will be in the office to meet you. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because there are not activities or other extras there - just a good campground!

Great lots, power and water. Picnic tables at most sites.
Easy hiking to the river or a quick drive to the state park. If you have dirt bikes or atv's there is a nearby area for riding.
There is a bathroom on site, looks like possible showers too.
There is a number to call posted at the entrance.

This is the only place to stay in Glendive. We were very happy to find out about this place from the previous reviews. We needed to be in town for a couple of weeks and this place fit the bill. The gravel lots are level with grass inbetween sites and tall trees. The open areas were great for letting the dogs run. We positioned ourselves so our back window faced the beautiful sunsets. You can get to the Yellowstone River with a small hike down. FHU with 50A. The 2 restaurants when you turn in are both good. Stayed in a 38'FW. Hopefully cable and Internet get working next year. No "air" TV channels available. Will stay again!

When we first pulled up and spotted the "Call the number" sign with the rundown appearance of the area I was concerned. In a few moments after calling a older gentleman came walking out of the large new hotel near the road. Larry handed me a card to fill out and asked me to drop it off at his office up front. He said I could have any spot, but the ones along the outside were bigger. I made the mistake of pulling up to one of the first ones I spotted, it was too close to the highway. I should have pulled further along the road for a quieter site.
The site itself was roomy with loots of maneuvering room. And even with the proximity to the highway the noise was not too bad. We hooked up to the updated sewer, water and electrical. There are large open fields that are great for running the pup, just watch out for the little cactus, they are rough on the pups paws.
When I stopped to drop off the registration card Larry told me that his bother and him owned the place years ago and they sold out to the hotel people. Then after the hotel was built they called and asked him to come back and run the campground. When he returned earlier this year he found that they demolished the office, buried the pool and cut the cable TV lines. Since then they have built a very nice modern bathroom / shower building and updated the water / waste system. Next year they plan to get the cable working again and build Larry an office / residence. (and hopefully get the wifi working)
Overall we liked the place. The noise was not that bad and the roomy sites made this a great place to base our adventures in the Makosika State Park. We will be back to see the progress and this place gets up and running again.

Room tip: Grab a spot on the back side away from the highway.

Nice owner (Larry), clean bathrooms, well maintained. This place has been closed 4 years while the adjacent hotel got built. We were only ones here. We pulled in after midnight and set up a tent. Paid in morning a very reasonable fee. Larry says he is open through October. Walking distance from the Yellowstone River.
