We had the pasty with gravy. It was warm and delicious. Also loved the coleslaw and blueberry pie. The place is old not overly clean but about what you would expect for a great small town local cafe. I would definitely come here again.

This is a very casual, small café. Dress as comfortably as you can. On Fri. night, I had their pasty of meat and potatoes and it was big (for me anyway). I had the gumbo soup and it was delicious. Glad I ordered the peach pie and that was delicious. I should have had the mini pasty if I had known how big and generous the dinner pasty is. All this came to $13. Isn't it great getting change back from a $20?

Only a block off one of the main streets and near the freeway, Joe's still has the delicious pasty I remember from the first time I stopped there with friends 20 years ago! I was so happy to see it is still there and the quality is just as good. There is no chintzing on the size of quality of the pasty. I bought one for my drive and three for my family at the end of my trip back to Seattle and they accomplished everything they were designed to do one hundred and fifty years ago. I hope to stop there next trip through Butte.

Pasties were a staple of miners from days gone by. They have become a historical eat in Butte. Taking a tour guide's word we thought we've give 'em a go. Not so great. Bland. Diced potatoes and a few pieces of meat in a doughy shell with gravy on it. It might stick to your ribs but it did not hit the spot.

I have never left a review like this, but feel I must - we decided to stop here for lunch while in Butte and I can honestly say we will not return. While the folks here were wonderful, the food is worse than a school lunch - in fact, I'd eat a school lunch if given the choice between it or the pasty here.

My husband ordered the pasty with chili - it was canned chili! I ordered the pasty with gravy and the gravy was just add water powdered gravy! Neither of our pasty had much meat - my husband's had three small cubes and mine two - the rest was just pre-packaged diced potatoes.

I was sorely disappointed with our meal - it wasn't homemade, it was all processed ingredients put together.
