Come on in partner for the best home style cooking west of the Mississippi. Breakfast and lunches are good old fashioned stick to your ribs meals and there isn’t any kale to be seen. The bakery items are baked right in the cafe and include delicious sweet rolls, light as air biscuits, pies and cake. Prices are reasonable and servings are ample. The atmosphere is Western through and through and the wait staff are efficient, friendly and helpful. Stop on in for a great meal but expect a short wait because no one eats at the Western just once!

Western Cafe in Bozeman, Montana, is an old-fashioned American diner that has been around for so long that it has carved its own slogans into the pancakes. Like: "Montana: simple food, simple environment, simple comforts" or "the last best cafe" or "serving great food for better part of a century" or "our chicken fried steak--best in the West." Well, as former NFL and TV star Don Meredith once said: "It ain't braggin' if you can do it." So Western Cafe, located at 443 East Main Street, does its thing without blinking, just winking. Sitting amid knotty pine paneling and heaps of local memorabilia, my wife and I got a good dose of what Bozeman is all about. And they know how to produce a great plate of Eggs Benedict, with two poached eggs, grilled ham and hollandaise sauce on an English muffin. Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish and, when traveling, I love to compare one restaurant's version to another to another. It's hard to make a bad Eggs Benedict, given the traditional ingredients, but some are better than others. Is it the ham or the Canadian bacon? Western Cafe's version was first-rate. Meanwhile, my wife opted for the house specialty, chicken fried steak. Very good, she said. But she wondered if she should have tried the Western Cafe's signature Bobcat breakfast, two cinnamon roll slices prepared French toast style with two scrambled eggs, sausage and hash browns. We really did enjoy the home-made cinnamon rolls. Yes, they do know how to prepare a good country breakfast in the Old West.

Our friends who live in town, love this place. OK
Yes, the portions are huge, if that's your thing. Prices are very reasonable. But I'd rather have less of better quality.
My blueberry pancakes were not cooked through. Less than average flavor. My husband's pancakes were better, but the eggs were not over easy. The bacon was very good.
If you're on a budget, and a big eater, this might be your place. Lots of college students here on a Saturday morning.

Went here because of reviews. If you come here for breakfast, stick to scrambled eggs or pancakes. They do NOT know how to fry eggs properly.
