Description: Highway 61 Roadhouse and Kitchen was conceived during a trip on Highway 61 between St. Louis and New Orleans. This stretch is called "The Blues Highway". It originates in the agriculturally and culturally fertile land of the Mississippi Delta; it is said that American music, as we know it, traveled and developed up the river. From the Zydeco and Jazz of New Orleans to the Urban Blues of Memphis' Beale Street to the piano based St. Louis Blues, great music has spanned this route. The combination of the rhythmic sounds of slaves and their instruments of the new world gave America its roots of unique musical styles that have topped the charts and soothed souls for centuries. The various cultures that created such distinctive and world-renowned music had other influences as well. The food of this section of Highway 61 brings us the savory tastes and complex flavors that American's hearts and palates have fallen in love with. No one can resist the spicy etouffee or jambalaya from the Cajun and Creole kings of New Orleans. The Delta brings us items like cornmeal breaded catfish, hot tamales and sweet potatoes. As this culinary journey continues to Memphis, you will find mounds of slow smoked pulled pork and racks of seasoned dry rubbed ribs. St. Louis, whose contributions include pork steaks, toasted ravioli and what was initially a mistake that has turned into one of the area's most loved desserts, gooey butter cake. These are just a few examples of the fine foods this rich region has contributed to America's gastronomic lore. We hope we have included some of your favorites on our menu and if you have a suggestion please let us know. We hope you enjoy our "Southern Roadhouse Hospitality" along with the food and music that we have selected from this section of Highway 61. Whether it's the great seafood and spicy Cajun foods along with Jazz and Zydeco from Louisiana, the soulful cooking and Blues from the Mississippi Delta, the Rockabilly of the Sun label as well as the Soulful sounds of the Stax and Hi labels as well as the mouth watering barbecue made so famous in Memphis, or, of course, our hometown greats Chuck Berry, Fontella Bass, and Ike and Tina Turner, and a mouth watering pork steak and gooey butter cake. We promise to bring you the best in food and music that these areas have to offer.

What a fun place!! Very extensive menu .. but I stuck with the cajun/creole and had gumbo (pretty good) and sauteed greens with turkey (awesome). Friends had a side of smoothered fries .. more like lacy round fries with blue cheese (or maybe that delicious flavor was rouqfort?). Prices were great because the servings were big. And go on a Tues when they have open mic .. for anyone/band to jump up and play some blues. Your luck of the draw here cause some are great and others so so .. but all alot of fun. Only reason I gave it 4*s .. it's almost impossible to carry on a conversation in the main dining room when the music is on. But I would definitely go back again.

if you want barbeque, visit this Old Orchard secret. More than enough to eat and you will feel as if you had left town and were on vacation in New Orleans. Music on special nights and always daily Happy Hour specials. One must eat barbeque in St. Louis. Smackin good.

We came to this restaurant for it's diverse menu and customer service. Out of the 15 members of our party only one person was not completely satisfied, He sent His pasta dish back (not spicy enough) . But the rest of us came for the St.Louis BBQ. That's what they are Famous for so that was what we ate. I loved the pulled pork ,BBQ spaghetti, and mac & cheese. You can get all that on a platter with ribs & a 1/4 of chicken. Prices was affordable. The wait staff was great and very attentive. The atmosphere was very ecollected with local art on the walls with party themes to them. A local band was starting at the close of our dinner, they sounded great. It was my First time ther but not my last.

We are frequent visitors to St. Louis and this restaurant was highly recommended. The atmosphere was great, but the food was Not! The menu said the jambolia was loaded with shrimp. Mine had none. When I complained about the lack of shrimp in the dish the waitress brought the manager over. The waitress returned with a ramekin with about 6 small shrimp. Looked like they heated in it the microwave. I didn't eat it and requested it be removed from my bill. The waitress had to go get the manager again and he said that I only complained there was no shrimp so he gave me more (that were sauteed) and he felt he addressed my complaint therefore I had to pay for it. My friend ordered a pasta dish that just tasted bad, she did not want a replacement, so they removed her dish from her bill. Been visiting St. Louis for many years and never had a bad meal until now. All this complaint for a $10 dish. Poorly handled my the manager. Customer service people!

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere of our restaurant, but disappointed to hear you didn’t enjoy some other aspects of your visit. We absolutely love hearing that our guests enjoyed their experience and so it’s always frustrating to us to hear otherwise. That being said, I’d like to assure you that nothing at our restaurant is microwaved. All of our food is cooked fresh and made to order. We’re always very responsive to critique and have addressed your concerns with our staff. We have full confidence in them to provide all of our guests with an amazing meal and we hope you’ll give us another shot in the future. Best, Bill (owner)
