Soulard is a good area for eating and drinking. There are lots of things within walking distance of one another and plenty of cabs to be had if needed. At different times of the year (Oktoberfest and Mardi Gras) the festivals are a lot of fun. The whole neighborhood participates! The buildings are architecture are also nice to look at, as this is a historic area.

You can get any sort of food you want here and the prices are incredible. Bring your own bag and load up on veggies. It is really croweded, but there is a good flow.

Soulard is not just a farmers market it is a geographic area that is sure to provide what ever style of eatery or pub you might be looking for. More of a locals favorite than a tourist destination. While the farmers market is truly the hub of the Soulard area there are parks near by and is conviently located just south of the St Louis Cardinals Busch Stadium & the St, Louis Arch.

Soulard is an outdoor (mostly) farmers market near downtown. Its one of the oldest in the USA. Has lots of great vendors, and the prices are very reasonable. Probably a top 15 farmers market in the US, but I wouldn't say its one of the best.

Quality of the products is okay, nothing special (compared to say Reading Terminal in Philly which has outstanding quality).

Perfectly safe area, plenty of free parking (across the street), and very busy on weekends. Not a tourist attraction by any means, but nice for locals every once in awhile.

My family and I toured the Soulard District on foot as well as by auto!
We took our time, stopped in a couple of wonderful bars (Norton's was one that we loved!!!) and had a fantastic lunch! The architecture of the area was spectacular and it was gratifying that the area is being renovated place by place! The district is giving St. Louis a marvelous flavor....the downtown modern attractions are great, but the ages old sections of town reflect the true roots of St. Louis! The alleyways were even fun to peruse! Anyone taking a trip to St. Louis should certainly include the Soulard District!
