“Clean, quiet and comfortable room”

I have stayed here several times for business. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. It is conveniently located downtown with a secured parking garage. On my last visit, I forgot to pack a personal toiletry. The front desk provided me with a complimentary replacement. This will continue to be my hotel of choice for St. Louis.

I cannot believe this was only $99 per night. This was a very well decorated older buiding... tall... maybe 20 floors that looks right onto the St. Louis Arch. They had a great parking ramp attached to the building with direct elevator access for only $12. The Irish restaurant/ pub in the hotel, Tigis, was the best restaurant I have ever been to in a Hampton Inn. The pool, facilities, gym, service... all top notch. The pantry was inexpensive, and had a good selection. You are in walking distance to the key downtown STL locations. Yes... they have the Hampton breakfast buffet that I have criticized... but they took it up a notch... fresher... better... chives on the scrambled eggs. I will try to find a reason to stay there again soon. Rooms perfect great HD TVs...

Room Tip: Go to Tigis instead of venturing out... it is that good.

My extended family spent a long weekend in St. Louis, staying at the Hampton Inn - Gateway Arch February 16 - 19. The hotel is slightly difficult to drive directly to, but once there, the staff is tremendous. The private parking for $12 per night is secured, accessed only with room cards and adequate, if a bit of a challenge to manuever. It does tend to get more crowded on the weekend. Check-in went smoothly although we were originally informed that the 5th floor was in the final stages of renovation and the pool, arcade and fitness areas would be closed, but Hampton Inn guests were able to use the Drury Inn facilities which were across the street. After more discussion, we were given permission to use the pool area, which was finished, and also saw some guest using the fitness area. This was one example of how the staff really went out of their way to make sure every guest is satisfied with their stay. All were friendly and greeted the guests like friends.

The rooms themselves are normal hotel fare, clean and quiet with free wi-fi. There is a refrigerator provided in every room, which is great. The thermostats seemed a bit off, but we were able to make adjustments. Our stay coincided with the St. Louis Mardi Gras celebration, so the atmosphere Saturday became quite crazy beginning in the morning. The elevators had a definite problem keeping up with the demand. Even with the additional revelry, though, inside the rooms remained fairly quiet.

We patronized the on-site restaurant, Tigin's Irish Pub, one night and found the food and drink to be tasty, a bit expensive, but not outrageous.

Overall, this hotel was a pretty good deal for its location (within walking distance to many attractions), rooms and ammenities. The staff really does make this average hotel into something a little more. I would recommend staying here if you don't need fancy but do need friendly and helpful staff.

My husband & I just stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown St. Louis and we were overall, very impressed. We were in town for the Boat Show at the Edward Jones Dome & needed a hotel within walking distance. This hotel is within walking distance to pretty much anywhere you need in the downtown area. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized how close we actually were to everything.
The Hotel itself is very clean & has the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel.
Our room was nice sized & had a great view of the Arch. We had a King room on the 12th floor.
The onsite Irish Pub is also very nice & has great food & beverages.
The pool is on the 5th floor & has a good view of the Arch. Also on the 5th floor is a game room & the exercise room, all of which are nice & clean!
The only, and I mean only, downside to this hotel would be the very cramped parking. If you drive an SUV you will not fit in the garage. The outside lot is also very tight & was full of smaller cars that should have parked in the garage, leaving the lot for those larger vehicles.

Overall, we loved the hotel & downtown area and will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a room with an Arch view. The higher up, the better!

The location of the Hampton Inn is extremely convenient to the St. Louis Arch and several other neighboring areas that are accessible via the metro or the bus. However, in the end, I was advised that the public transportation (buses) tend to spotty, so its best to have a rental car. The Hampton Inn offer parking at a reasonable rate of $12 a day with in and out priveleges, which is convenient. To get to other areas, like the Budweiser Company or Forest Park, either a car or taxi are probably your best bet.

The hotel itself was an excellent value. The lobby is not large, but neat and clean, and I was pleasantly surprised by the decent size of the room (I had a king size room with an arch view on the 14th floor). I had an excellent view of the arch, the room was clean, with control of the room temperature (there is a A/C / heating unit in each room, so not the super quiet kinds but the fan on mine was barely noticeable), and the bedding was a down comforter and pillows. I also liked the fact that they provided free wifi.

I also thought the breakfast that was included to be quite expansive. It included fruits (both fresh and canned), a range of cereals, breads, muffins, bagels, eggs, pancakes and oatmeal.

This hotel is definitely worth the value of less than $100 to stay in a convenient part of downtown St. Louis with all the amenities that one might need. (close to metro, wifi, breakfast, gym, breakfast). Also, customer service was terrific, and everyone was very friendly.
