The Saint Louis Arch is another bucket list item. If you are claustrophobic, t h e elevators are very small. The view of the Mississippi River is amazing.

We had an early tour so not so crowded or long of a wait. Very knowledgable workers. Easy to figure out where to go.Lines moved fast. Bought our tickets at the courthouse which is just a small walk away.

I was debating about seeing this, it's an up and down trip, and it's a bit pricey for a family. However, the video and visitor center (which will be newly renovated and open July 2018) is very well done. The trip up is fascinating - like you're in an escape pod right out of Star Wars. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable if you take the time to talk with them. Definitely put this on the list when you're in St. Louis.

I’ll put the most important tip first. Buy your tickets ONLINE and EARLY during peak times. They will sell out. The walk to the Arch from either entrance is about 8 minutes. Security is like the airport so you will have to remove the same things except your shoes. Your 4 minute tram ride up is in one of eight 5-person elevator cubes. If you are claustrophobic, don’t go. Once your 630 feet at the top, the views are awesome and visibly can be up to 30 miles on a good day. You can stay up as long as you want but it gets more crowded as the day goes on. A Ranger and staff are available at the top for assistance or questions. The ride down is 3 minutes in one of the 8 tram cubes.

My other suggestions would be to reserve the earliest time you can and during the week if possible. Our tram ticket time was for Monday 9:10am and they open exactly at 9 with only a 10 minute wait for security. Make sure you screenshot or print your tickets. Your phone will have “no service” once inside the Arch. Four port-a potties are available near the SW entrance. Restrooms are available inside. There are none at the top. Dress for the weather. There is no shelter for the entry lines that will wrap around the Arch during the day waiting to enter through security. Gift-shop, photo purchase area on the ground floor. We stayed right across from the Arch and walked so I can’t advise on parking. There are restaurants in the area, just not in the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park. Give yourself 1-2 hours for the experience. I would definitely return. Enjoy.

We enjoyed our visit. Only complaint would be lack of signs on how to enter. Maybe it was just early... we wondered around 10 min...

The view was great. The movie was interesting. Highly recommend.
