Perfect welcome on arrival. Staff were kind, willing to help with anything you need. Very knowledgeable of their country and local area, and friendly. Professional in manner and approach. Nothing were too much trouble for the staff.
We were only B&B for 5nights and breakfasts were reasonable with scrambled eggs cooked to perfection
Modernish boutique hotel,Room extremely spacious with large balcony. Quiet and relaxing. Road was busy but when in hotel and beach area we were not aware of it or any noise of traffic. Beach was peaceful and lovely to walk along at any time.

Room Tip: all rooms have good views of beach /sea

We stayed at Casa Colombo at the end of our honeymoon trip around Sri Lanka. We decided to stay there as it appeared to be a luxury hotel we could unwind at for our last few days. We were very wrong! I don’t recommend staying here and especially for the price you pay!

- The rooms are not clean! The bathroom was filthy
- We did not receive a fresh towel in four days
- The shower in the bathroom did not drain and would flood everyday
- Our room was filled with bugs (including mosquitos) and I was bitten several times while sleeping by them
- The room had a bug zapper and when I took it out of the cupboard tones of dead bugs fell out of it
- The pool isn’t clean and also filled with bugs
- We packed a bag for laundry and before we could even see the price list, it was taking from our room. We then received a bill of $170 Australian dollars for our washing. We had the same washing done in another hotel in Sri Lanka for $30 Australian dollars
- The Hotel is advertised as Mirissa but it isn’t Mirissa and is at least a ten minute tuk tuk ride into Mirissa

I wish I had something nice to say about this hotel but I can’t. Massively disappointed and a bad end to our honeymoon!

Small, 6 room boutique hotel. Right on the beach, while there turtles laid eggs within 3 mètres of dining tables. Everyone made us feel very welcome. Large rooms, peaceful.
Very close to Mirissa. Town.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view

Dear Jerome,

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are glad that you enjoyed the stay with us and also that you got an opportunity to see the sea turtles laying eggs. The hotel is located on a pristine stretch of beach which is a regular habitat of the sea turtles.

Once again, thank you for the positive feedback, and we hope to have you with us again soon.

Mirissa is a busy seaside resort used by many people as a base to go whale watching. The Casa Colombo is a modern utility hotel set between the road and the beach. As a result it seemed that the hotel had placed speakers on the beach through which it was constantly pumping music to drown out the road noise. It was all very intrusive and ruined a spa session where you were meant to relax. Staff are friendly and helpful and will try to sort anything out you ask ( although they failed to do this when our air conditioning went wrong one evening meaning we were wrapped up in bed to keep warm). They also explained that turtles laid eggs on the beach and we asked to be woken if this occurred and they duly did this at 01.30 one morning. Great intention but unfortunately they then used bright white torches to highlight the turtle instead of the red light that causes them less distress.
The room was modern and had a balcony overlooking the beach and it had wifi, a mini bar, air conditioning and kettle.
Food was average and expensive for what it was.
As I say the best thing about this hotel is the staff but otherwise it has very little to recommend it.

This small hotel is in a fabulous location right on the beach with a nice pool. The room we had was excellent - large, with a nice balcony. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice to look at, though the water pressure was low.
The reason for only 3* is that when we went to eat on our first night and asked to look at a wine list we were told, very offhand, that they did't have a liquor licence and only soft drinks are available!! THis despite their website mentioning wine availability.
We were able to sort out that on the second night, if we brought in our own wine (bought at the local liquor store), they would serve it for us with our meal. Nevertheless, the lack of a licence (I was given to understand that someone had forgotten to apply for a renewal ?) and the almost offhand way it was dealt with, was disappointing to say the least.
The food was good, though we had better in several places in SL. The staff tried their best to be helpful, but the manager was conspicuous by his absence.
Overall, this place could and should be 5* - such a pity they let themselves down.
