“Run the Other Way!”
Reviewed 22 May 2012

We were in the area for a week-long tournament, so we were scheduled for eight nights here. We lasted one. The lobby appears to have been renovated to some extent, but that is as far as it goes. The elevator, game room (unfortunately across from our room), rooms, and hallways are not updated. Our room had peeling paint and cracking plaster and was sadly in need of remodeling. We had a King room, but it didn't really seem that large. I had booked the resort for one major reason: we needed a restaurant on site. After we had checked in, my husband went down to see about when the restaurant opened in the morning. It turned out that it would be closed during our entire stay! I could handle that as we could go out, but after only one night, we had to check out. The walls were so paper thin that we could hear everything people were saying in the next room while speaking in a normal tone of voice. Add to that the sound of the TV, radio, hairdryer, etc., and we had NO peace and quiet. The pillows were flat and the linens were scarce. The thought of staying an entire week there was a nightmare. Thankfully, the staff let us out of our commitment (usually the deposit is nonrefundable). DO NOT stay here if you want, at the least, average accommodations. I can't say enough how thin the walls were. Every word you say can be heard by your neighbor. Don't be fooled by the updated lobby. This property has some serious issues.

Our organization has been goint to this hotes for several years for our conferences. During that time we have had excellent results. The staff go above and beyond in their efforts to make our conference a success. WE have seen many great improvements over the years including room renovations, restaurant renovations and upgrades, etc. If there are problems, all we have to do is let the staff know about them, and they will immediately remidy them.
Banquet meals are great, and service is excellent.
The lakeview rooms are comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake from the balconies.

Room Tip: Ask for lakeview room. The view is great.

Me and my significant other stayed at the inn at grand glaize resort with our children. We got the double bed lake view room. This was our first time here. It was a great friendly place to come. And our view from our room was perfect. We went and ate breakfast on the patio at ur hotel everything again was great what a way to start your morning looking out among the water in a great atmosphere. We definitely will be returning again soon. Also are deepest appologies again for me looking over in our bag his wallet and him running around all over in a panic. Please let the housekeeper also know we are sorry. You guys have a great place and a reasonable rate I would recommended it to anyone thanks again hope to see you soon. Our stay was just this last weekend. We had a standard double room for four adults. We were given our keys and we got on the elevator which smelled and was in need of painting and upkeep. We landed on our floor and found our room, at first glance it appeared OK, but after spending 30 minutes there, we noticed several areas of concerns. There were several spots of cracked plaster in the ceiling right over the bed. On one of the nights we were there, we came back from a day of shopping and there were bits of plaster on the bed. Be sure to sleep with your mouth closed. We indicated there were four people in our party, but low and behold, they only gave us 3 towels, 2 wash cloths, and 1 hand towel. When I called late in the evening and requested extra towels, the lady on the phone seemed bothered that we were calling and wanted us to go to the desk and get the towels. I asked if there wasn't someone who could bring them up, and she sighed and said I guess. WOW!!!! Not very good customer service. The tub drain wasn't fixed into the tub, it was laying to the side. There were spots where the wallboard was pushed in. The sliding door to the balcony didn't even lock. It's a shame, the hotel is located in a great spot close to everything but I won't be staying there again. We went to the spa, which was great, it was raining the day we were there and they had to have a bucket on the floor to catch the water pouring in from the ceiling. They need to do MAJOR updating. The indoor hot tub had a big hole in the side of it and the water was very cloudy. We skipped it all together.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Out of all of the resorts that I have stayed at around Lake of the Ozarks, this one takes the cake for poor service and quality of facility. View was great, location is pretty standard, but everything else was sub-par or broken altogether. The rooms are in very poor condition; doors covered in scratches and marks, the ceilings look a few weeks from falling in, and the bathrooms/fixtures/furniture were all outdated. Bed sheets and pillows were pretty pathetic. The rail on the patios outside were all beat out. Stains were found on towels, as well as the carpet.

Those qualities, however, are nothing compared to the service of the restaurant and desk staff. Waited 2.5 hours for food...we managed to be polite to wait staff, as it wasn't their fault, but when our salads were received (Salad? Four soggy leaves of lettuce with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese on top) we anticipated food soon. When our food did arrive, everybody had incorrect dishes or incomplete dishes, as well as several that were told the kitchen had run out of food. I'm not sure why it took them 3 hours to inform us of that, as it seems like the polite thing to do would be a little bit of notice, but there was none given.

Complaints and discussion with the front desk went absolutely nowhere. Instead, we were threatened and disregarded as children. When I was verbally attacked by the staff after giving up on any sort of compensation, I realized that I was in the type of hotel where nobody understood the concept of hospitality.

For the same cost as this resort, you can stay at a hotel at Lake of the Ozarks that is much, much nicer than this one, with a staff that will ensure your vacation or retreat is a pleasure. Need more proof? The owner of the hotel doesn't even care to spell check a response to customers on this website; it is with that level of attention and care that you will be treated with if you stay at this hotel.
